Newleyweds - how much did you 'hang out' with your parents at your wedding?
I know that I want to spend all my time glued to FH visiting guests of course. But its a very important day for my parents obviously. But since they are divorced it may be a little hard! Just curious what it was like for you.......

I saw them mostly on the dance floor. We would all dance together for a little bit and them move on to entertaining our own friends. Both sets of parents had a great time and I think we spent a decent enought ime with them considering we had 200 guests and each other to be concerned with.

honestly, I spent about 15 mins with my parents the whole day, besides taking pics and getting ready in the morning. It's hard to do that, since you have to visit all the tables.

Just to add....
Your parents aren't going to expect you to hang out with them - they are going to be enjoying themselves watching there daughter glide around all day!

I saw my parents a lot. Wel,l my mom. I kept loosing dad, but we did meet up on the dance floor a few times. My parent's table was next to mine & my mom was on the end, so I'd always pass her by on the way back to my seat & we'd end up chatting I kinda flet liek I was spedinig to much time talking to my mom & brother , instea dof guests that I son't see so much, but they were just always around.
And my mom was the other person besides me making sure things were going according to plan & the vendors were tipped, etc, so she sought me out a few times to consult on these things.
Also, you will probably spend a lot of tiem with your motehr gettign ready & stuff, so its ok if you don't see her as much during the reception,

To be honest, I am very sad they say I spent a lot of time with them on the dance floor, but I can't remember anything, it went so fast. And I wasn't even drinking!

I spent very little time with my parents on my wedding day besides the early part getting ready and stuff. They were busy socializing and so was I - but I don't think it took anythign away from either of our days.

Quite honestly I didn't really spend alot of time with anyone but my husband. I wouldn't worry about how much time you are going to spend with anyone - just have a good time. We decided that we were having a mailbox for envelopes - so we didn't have to go from table to table. And most of the guests come up to you. We had a couple of guests that had a disabilities so we made sure that we went to them to thank them for coming and spend some time with them. Seriously, have a good time and enjoy the day!

I know I'm not a newlywed, but I do have a plan...my wedding is on a Friday. I plan to take the families out to dinner the previous weekend, and enjoy some quiet, alone time with them. I also plan to have an extended family brunch (or something) the day after the wedding, so I can spend time with my OOT guests. For the wedding itself, FI and I want to make sure we're able to mix with our friends and family however we see fit - but not feel obligated to cater to the family side.
If our families were contributing more $$, I might feel differently - but for us, our friends are really important. Also, we'll probably do our pictures before the ceremony so we can be a part of the cocktail hour - that's another hour we have to spend with everyone!

I didn't see them alot that day. They had told my DH and i not to worry about visiting with them and visit with the OOTs so that is what we did. My parents had a party the day after the wedding for us to visit with my family members and friends that i didn't spend a lot of time with at the wedding. I had so much fun at that party because DH and i were so much more relaxed.

I didn't see them alot on that day. My husband and I did rounds and then the parents did their own rounds. I saw them on the dance floor and chatted but not alot.

Hmm. well I saw my dad when he walked me down the aisle. Then I saw them for a few pictures. Then I met my mom on the dance floor a few times. Then I met my dad on the dance floor for our dance. And then I was able to spend about ten minutes with them at the end of the night as we waited for our limo to take us back to the hotel!! I wish I had more time to spend with them and everyone else for that matter! But the moments I did get to spend with them are most memorable!!

I made sure I visited them for a few minutes during the wedding to thank them and to see how they thought it was going.
