I just got engaged a couple of weeks ago. I'm very excited!! I'm so glad i heard about this website. I've already learned so much from you all. My fiance (it still feels weird to say that!) and I are meeting with the priest at his church next week. Some people have told me to wait to go to reception places until we meet with the church, but they already told me the dates they have open (lots - that's a relief) I'm anxious about coordinating the church & reception. I don't want too much of a gap in between. What do you all think? Can we start looking now?

Of course....First off congrats! My FH & I met with the Deacon before we saw any halls...We gave him a tenative date & then started to look for halls...Once we had our hall, I conformed the date with the church!! Do you know when you want to get married???

Definatley meet with the priest- churchs book as fast as catering halls. You can always change the date if you need too.

Where do you live? If its near LI Nassau I would look at Floral Terrace. I like that place and Its local - smack in the middle of LI & queens so its good for all guest. I also like it because they have a big dance floor and its seperate from the tables.. Best Of Wishes...

Re: newly engaged
congratulations! and welcome!!
i agree that you should start planning as soon as possible - makes it much less stressful later on, ensures that you get the dates and vendors you want, and sometimes prices go up, so it could save you some money!
happy planning!

Re: newly engaged
Congrats!.....we got our date at the church first. Then we started looking at halls. We thought it made it easier. If our hall didn't have our date available, then i think we would have gone back to the church to see if we could have a different date.
