Newly Engaged!!!

Hey guys I got engaged on saturday and i was wondering...how long after the engagement should we wait to have an engagement party?? We booked the reception hall already 6/6/09 at woodbury cc. my FMIL is throwing the party and she says may of 08 is when she will throw it....is that too long?

Congrats- it is entirely up to you. Most people say a few months after the engagement. Enjoy your planning.

Not sure about the engagement party (b/c i didnt have one) but its usually a few months after you get engaged, but I also know that some people wait about a year before their wedding to have the eparty

Congratulations and Welcome to the boards.

Usually people have the eparty within a few months of their engagement but I think since you are planning an '09 wedding, you'd be fine with a May '08 eparty.

I'd say with the amount of time you have, anytime between now and May would be perfect!

Wow! I can't believe you booked already it took me so long. Congrats on all fronts!
We didn't have an official engaement party either, but the family did get together about a month later to celebrate our engament and a birthday.

Yeah we booked so fast because i new the ring was on its way so we started looking a little early. We originally wanted oct 2008 but i was worried it may be a little chilly. Plus we want to start looking to buy a house so to push it back a few months to June of 2009 would make everything a little less rushed for us! I fell in love with woodbury cc i just love the coctail hour outside with the carribean theme!

Congrats on the engagement!!! Almost all e-parties I have heard of/been to are a few months after the engagement. Mine will be about 3 months after we got engaged.
