Newly Engaged and Have ?'s
Hello Ladies,I have a couple of questions that I need some outside advice on. Thank you in advance!
I have a 12 year old sister, by the time we get married she will be 13/14. I will also be having a Matron of Honor, to help with planning. But my question is, How Should I ask her to be my Maid of Honor? Asking her is going to be different than my other bridesmaid because of the age difference.
Also is like a necessity to have a rehearsal dinner? We are having a friday night wedding and we have a lot of out of state family. We don't know if having a rehearsal dinner is a necessity. We will be getting married at the wedding venue. My parents had said that the venue told them the morning of what they have to do and organized it.
We most likely aren't getting married till early 2017. Should we send out engagement announcements? Or wait till we get a date and send out save the date's with our engagement photo on it.
Videography? What are your thoughts.
Thank you so much for your help in advance.

Newly Engaged and Have ?'s
When asking my bridesmaids I got them personalized mason jars (and a tumbler for the flower girl) and put a ring pop inside it and bought cards that asked them. I feel like this is a good idea for all ages.I am getting married on a Friday night as well and I am having a rehearsal dinner the Thursday before (doing a rehearsal at my venue and then having a dinner in the pub upstairs also at my venue) but I am not inviting any out of state people, only people who are in the bridal party and need to be at the rehearsal (including the reader and officiant because it is my uncle lol)
I was originally against videography but I decided to add it on to my package (I'm using capture the moment) because my dad was insisting and I figured I may regret not having it.

Re: Newly Engaged and Have ?'s
Welcome and congratulations! We are not planning on having a rehearsal dinner because we are having our ceremony at the venue and only have a Maid of Honor and Best Man. As far as engagement announcements I think that's really your call. Since you have quite a bit of time before the Save the Dates would have to go out you could if you wanted to.Videography was something we went back and forth on at first as we didn't feel we needed it. After thinking about it we decided it would probably be something we regretted not having, at which point it would be too late. There are many reasonably priced videographers that the girls on here would be more than happy to recommend (Lesean Rowe or Capture the Moment, for example) as well as photographers/djs that have packages including video. Best of luck!

Congrats! By getting married in 2017, you essentially have your pick at venues and vendors! You may also get 2015 or 2016 prices. As far as videographer, we don't have one booked. TBH, if we come across a good deal for one I probably would've booked one, but I don't think it's a necessity. I know that a good photographer will get all the best moments and for me, I like remembering the wedding the way it was in my head. I think while videography is great, but I personally don't like myself on camera.

Congrats and welcome!! Something special and personalized would be a sweet way to ask your sister. It's not a necessity at all to have a rehearsal dinner. A lot of venues don't even offer a rehearsal besides right before the ceremony anyway. You do what you want.
Video... We initially said we didn't need it. We didn't book one and then so many people told us how much we would regret not having it. Not being able to look back on the day, since it goes back so quickly, and one day looking back and seeing people no longer with us. FHs grandpa passed away in April and left us some money, so we were able to do it. If he didn't, we would have tried to find some other way to add it on. It's such a great thing to have, and doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Re: Newly Engaged and Have ?'s
I did not have a rehearsal dinner, we did a quick rehearsal before the ceremony (we did pictures beforehand too). As for engagement announcements, I would just wait till you had a date and then send a save the date that has your engagement picture on it, I'm all about saving money lol. Finally I've always wanted a video of my wedding. I always remember watching my aunt's over and over and my nephews love to watch my sister's, I want my kids to watch mine :D.Congratulations and good luck!
P.S. I have no advice about how to ask your sister, I literally just asked all my girls the question n that was it.

Yea i feel the same way with the video, Every year I would watch my parents video with them. I guess depending on the price and how much my venue costs, I will see. Im probably going to do something simple. I just don't know what. haha
Thanks for your help!

Newly Engaged and Have ?'s
I think it would be cute to ask her the same way you ask your other BM - that way she feels included. We are not doing a rehearsal dinner since we are getting married at our venue and we don't have a bridal party. We are going to have a luncheon the afternoon before though just as a get together for OOT and families!
I personally would wait until you have engagement photos and then send out your STD. Normally you want to send out STD no earlier than a year before your wedding.
And for video... we don't feel the need to have one. But many girls on here feel strongly that couples will regret that decision. Personal opinion - we are also doing a cocktail party and are completely non-traditional so it's all about what you want!

I'm not having a rehearsal dinner because the ceremony is at my venue and we're only rehearsing the morning of the wedding. I don't think it's necessary but we are going to invite our bridal party to the house with snacks and drinks to give them their gifts and say thanksIn regards to videography, I wasn't going to get it at first but my family kept telling me that I should. I ended up finding an amazing company that had a deal for photo, video and dj so I booked it and the more I see all these wedding videos online I'm glad I ended up getting video.

Congrats! I asked my girls by making a box that had a ring pop, lip gloss, and nail polish thats the wedding color then it said 'will you be my MOH/BM'As of right now I'm getting married at my venue (not 100% sure yet) and wont be having a rehearsal but I want to go out to dinner so that I could give gifts and plus its just another way to celebrate :) I'd only have bridal party and immediate family included in this
Save the money and I wouldnt do engagement announcements wait for the save the dates
When it comes to video we didnt think we would be able to fit it in the budget but then ladies on here started bringing up LJR Films and I was able to squeeze it in since hes so reasonably priced for amazing work. I say if you can afford it then definitely do it :)
