newly engaged and overwhelmed

Hi guys this is Tina.. newly engaged and of course new to this site...
I'm a bit confused to what I want for my wedding... at the moment I'm thinking to do something outside in the backyard... Classy of course!!... Any suggestions to how I could get this started.. I'm very overwhelmed!

Congrats and welcome!

Well seeing as how you have plenty of time to plan I would say start researching places to rent tents and chairs so you can find the best deal. You could also just do a google search about backyard weddings and I am sure a list of things will come up you need to consider in your planning.

The only thing that would concern me is the weather if you're date is set on 11/11/11. It may be too cold/maybe even snowy to have it outdoors.

Start researching and pricing vendors for Tents, Tables, Chairs, Food ext. and get as much information as you can. I know someone who was going to do this but it wound up costing her more then she planned. Check out some halls that offer outside receptions as well to see the difference in price. Do as much Homework as you can before booking anything- especially since you have a lot of time.

But and outside wedding in November might be a little cold.

Good luck and Happy planning!

hi and welcome!!!

a close friend of mine is having a wedding like this but at a park... totally brought everything like it was her backyard... the wedding is in a few weeks so i'll let you know how it goes....

however if you are doing this to save some $$$ - she ended up paying more for the caterer who i believe is also doing the tent tables chairs and so on than i did for my RH...... and she has to buy her own liquor... so be careful!!

she just really wanted a tent wedding sooo she didnt care how much it was

Congratulations and welcome!

Luckily you've got time on your side-although it was fly by before you know it!

I'm also getting married in November 2011 (but I might push it up to October). I would suggest first setting a budget and from there seeing what your options are. Oh and then of course a guest list since that is just as important. You can have XX amount of money but too many people to throw a wedding off within those parameters. Good luck!

I see you have a lot of time but this time will fly by if you start booking your tents and caterers now you will get the best price and always negotiate (it works)

COngrats and welcome....

I never looked into an outdoor wedding so i'm not of much help but you have enough time to space everything out.... take your time and remember to enjoy your engagement
