Newly Engaged - First Post and I need your help!

Hi Everyone!

I am newly engaged and just starting to plan my wedding. Haven't picked a date yet, but hope to have it sometime next year.

I will be having a large wedding with approx. 400 guests and looking for a reception hall under $100. We are currently thinking of late July or early August 09. Are there any options available in my price range?

My engagement announcement was just posted, please check out my proposal story =)

Alicia & Ikhwan

Thank you!!

***Edit - We are looking for a Saturday or Sunday night preferably

Wow!! Welcome

Congrats to you and your FH!!! This is soo exciting for you and we are all here to help!

Well since you have a lot of guests, you can def save $$ on diff nights or days of the week. Like a friday or Thursday... There are lots of options! I think at this point though you should start calling places and telling them your size to see if they can accomindate you to start off.

Good luck!!

Welcome, Congrats, Good luck.. all that good stuff.

I know that the Coral House in Baldwin has a gigantic room that could fit 400 people in that price range, not sure how the place is though was only there once 10 years ago. Worth a look!

Thank you girls!

I am really looking for either a Saturday or Sunday night. I just wanted to get an idea of what's out there before I start calling places up.

Are there any other places you can think of?

The only reception hall on Long Island I've been to is Coral House, any others besides the ones mentioned?

How is the pricing at Chateau Briand?

Congrats and welcome!

You might have some trouble with June or July, those are the peak times, but definitely try!

Chateau Briand is pricey. My FH's family knows the owners, but since FH's sister had her wedding there (and I know a lot of people who had their reception there), I decided against it.

It is going to be difficult to find a place under 100 for a Saturday night. Your best bet is a Sunday night. That's what I'm doing...and even that is way over 100 (but with add ons like Vienesse hour).

I would definitely try to narrow down the guest list to 300 people and then you can bump the price up a little bit.

Chatea La Mer was less expensive (didn't care for it, though).

I didn't realize that you are looking at summer of next year. Definitely start looking ASAP. I started looking in April and almost all of the weekends were booked up already.

If you can get off work in the fall, I'd get married then. I am a teacher so the summer is the only time I can take my honeymoon. Otherwise, I would have done it at a different time to save on the cost. You will save a significant amt!!!

I would think Leonards has a big enough room for you... check them out! The price is also what you're looking for

its so true..the price differences are amazing...
for instance..I am in february..which seems to be priced the same as March...I got quoted LITERAALY half the price as I would in July!

first off welcome and congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok... your prob gonna have to go for a sunday night or sat day b/c 1. it will be around your price range and 2. most halls are all booked up on a sat night for next summer... i booked my RH back in july and all july 09 dates were pretty much taken except for a few here and there.. so my advice is to start looking ASAP
