Newly engaged/looking for venue!
Hi! I'm Simone. I've been lurking the forums here for quite some time just been wedding obsessed and planning friends weddings, but now I'm actually the one engaged!! I am so so happy and so excited and thrilled to be marrying my best friend :)However, I am really disappointed by the catering halls on Long Island, I am looking for something with wooden beams and lots of windows.. I have already emailed a bunch of places: milleridge, smcc, thatched cottage, smithtown landing, and my sister had her wedding a the riviera and it was awful, so although its ideal physically, I can not have my wedding there.
Any suggestions?! Please help :)

You may want to check out The Old Field Club...also... can you you tell me what was so awful about the Riviera?? I am going there with FH on the 5th... its our first place to look at (but not our first choice).

The old field club is so expensive!! I forgot to mention that I would like to keep it under $100pp...I believe I posted somewhere what I didn't like about the riviera.. I will try to explain!!
They told us not to worry, that they would take care of everything, so as MOH I could focus on my sister rather than the wedding itself. We had given the riviera bubbles to pass out to the guests for the ceremony, but they left them in a basket out of site by the front door when the ceremony was outside in the back. Later on I realized that they hadn't been given out so I asked if they could be given out to the guests for the parties entrances and they told me it was a fire hazard. Needless to say we went home with over 100 wedding bubbles...
Then there was the cake issue: we went to the bakery the riviera uses for a cake tasting to pick out flavors. We brought the whole family and we all decided on this amazing decadent raspberry chocolate mousse flavor. The cake was included in the rivieras package but they said we could pick th flavor.
At the wedding the 'wedding cake' that was passed out was plain white cake. NOT what we picked!!
When I told my sister about it, she called them t ask for the rest of her cake because she couldn't believe it and hadn't tried the cake herself and they told her there was none (which was a lie because her cake served 150 and she only had 100 come).
She also called and asked about some wedding presents she had left behind and they said they didn't find anything and shooed her off the phone.

welcome to the boards!!! do not absolutely do not go to old field club!! i went there for my wedding - eh nothing to offer and nothing special but then attended a wedding there and it was down right dirty, tight and horrible!!!!!!!!Try getting married in an off month such as december- march to keep it under the $100 pp because remember its always ++ for tax and grat. so 100pp winds up coming to 125pp. I'd also try and haggle ask for no tax if you pay in cash!! its a huge money saver.
as for venues try willow creek, Flowerfield (doesn't have wooden beams but has a green house which is awesome!) also try maybe woodbury country club (FH's brother just got married there). I'd also try east wind!!!
best of luck and happy planning!!!

Try looking at Willow Creek, it is where I booked. It had a very wooden feel to it, and has wonderful views of the golf course. I have an album of photos on here, feel free to take a look.

Welcome--I went to a wedding last year at Westbury Country Club and it had tons of wooden beams from what I remember. It was a great wedding too! Good luck and happy planning!

if you want your privacy and excellent food and service I would pick North Ritz Club, Fox hollow is nice but they rush you because 3 weddings go one at once. many of the scotto brother wedding halls over pack their halls.
