Newport RI?

Original post by MrsDrinkh20

So FH and I were planning a minimoon to boston for right after our wedding. Well, we got some bad news that a friend of ours who was getting married in the city in may had to move the wedding to march and to boston because his mom was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. So we are going to be spending a weekend in boston for his wedding and don't want to go there for our minmoon. We were thinking Block Island but haven't been able to find great accomodatons for us, and are now thinking Newport RI. Have any of you been there? Anyone have any hotels they know of? help! Any other suggestions of minimoon locations would great too!

We got engaged in Newport and I love it there-- didn't stay at any hotels though so I can't help with that. It is just a beauitful place with lots to do and see. I had friends who did their mini-moon on Block Island and LOVED it...if you want more info. I can find out for you and let you know, just FM me. :)

2010 bride crashing...I went to college in Newport. I LOVE the town so much. It's a wonderful spot for a mini-moon. That's where we are going to go for a few days after our wedding. There are great BandB's everywhere, and then I also recommend the Hotel Viking. After the renovations were completed, the hotel was even more beautiful and in a great location. You aren't far from the water and it's on a great street (Bellevue Ave.). The prices in the off season were between 100 and 200 per night and in the on season, I don't think you can get a nice hotel without paying 300 or more. There's some inexpensive hotels in Middletown which is the next town over though. Oh, and if you really want a beauitful spot, stay at the Castle Hill Inn on Ocean Drive. The view and food is amazing there! But it's like 500+ per night lol.

Oh and my favorite restaurants are Scales and Shells and the Red Parrott. And if you like thai food and stuff like that, the Salvation Cafe
