Newport, RI vs Mystic, CT

FH and I are trying to plan our mini-moon for late August. From reading reviews from brides,I see these two mentioned a lot.

Can anyone give me more details and/or places to stay there. I am open to other recommendations to other places too. We live in Queens and are looking for mini-moon options.

Thanks!

Love Newport! We stayed in Newport RI in the Hampton Suites. It was outisde of Newport but only a 10 min drive from the town. There are tons of places to eat and things to do. My vote would be Newport! EWe drove through Mystic and it seemed kind of quiet but you have the town and aquarium.

Newport, RI vs Mystic, CT

We went to Mystic last summer and stayed in a beautiful bed and breakfast called Abby's Lantern Hill Inn. The town itself was small, with a few good restaurants. Like someone else said, not much to do there except drive over the casinos. We're going to Newport in April for a week just to get away--looks just as beautiful though!

I loooooooooooove Newport!!! I'm biased because that's where FH proposed, but it really is such a quaint and beautiful place to visit. We stayed at the Adele Turner Inn. It's this adorable B&B and one of the rooms has a hot tub on the balcony!

Check them out at http://www.adeleturner.com/ - I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we go back!

I LOVE Newport.... stay right in downtown, it'll be more expensive but for a mini moon it's worth it.... you can walk right to the restaurants/bars/shopping. it's a great town

Re: Newport, RI vs Mystic, CT

I love both. Mystic is about 8 miles from Foxwoods and I love the MGM which is attached. Newport is beautiful though and the town is much larger more shopping and restaurants I felt.

Newport, RI vs Mystic, CT

Definitely Newport! You can go to Mystic for a weekend sometime, Newport would be better for a minimoon. You can take the ferry to Block Island, Rhode Island's beautiful little island (also accessible by ferry from Montauk here on the island). It would be a great day trip while in RI, google Block Island.
