Newsday article

I was reading the advice column in newsday this morning and I almost fell off my seat. Some guests not only have NO CLUE, they have the nerve to be snotty about it!!!

DEAR AMY: Last night, I opened my cousin's wedding invitation only to find the invitation - no response card. When I called my mom to tell her this, she told me that for real high-class weddings you are required to handwrite your response. In my opinion, it is not high class but cheap, because they did not have to pay for the response card nor the 37-cent stamp! Please tell me what you think about this and what I'm supposed to do. I'm not going to the wedding because it is out of town, but how do I let them know?

No RSVP

DEAR NO: It's called a pen; you place it on the paper and move it around, making letters and then sentences.

You should thank the couple for inviting you, then tell them you're so sorry, but you won't be able to celebrate with them, thank them again and sign off affectionately.

You spring for the paper, ink, envelope, stamp and the five minutes out of your day it took to be gracious.

We did that for mine and got some odd responses from people. They thought that we forgot to include it. Others thought that the printer made a mistake.

I've never seen that or heard of it, i would probably be confused too... Our response card was not one of the check off ones and I think people were confused by that!

what I find highly amusing is that the woman wrote to the newspaper about it, but couldn't write back an RSVP.

this was a great though. hahahahah

Sorry but I never heard of no response card. I would think either they forgot to put it in or if they did it intentionally that they are cheap.

I admit, I've never heard of not having a response card in an invitation. I would have been confused - but I highly doubt I would've written to a newspaper about it

I was thinking the same thing. The bride probably spent top dollar for her formal invite, and then gets chewed out by her cousin. If that's the case then I hope the bride doesnt get an response from her cousin!!!
