What do you guys prefer? Night or Day weddings? I've only been to 1 day wedding. It was over by 5pm and then some of us headed over to the hotel and hung out @ the bar.
Night weddings are good, but I think by 11pm you lose a lot of your older guest.
I'm contemplating whether I want a night or day wedding, so I figured I would ask what you prefer.

Re: Night or Day?
I'll go against majority and say day/afternoon wedding (and not just because mine will be a Saturday day wedding).
I've been to two day weddings recently. Both had everyone dancing, and neither seemed less 'formal' than any of the night weddings I have attended. One of the day weddings was on a golf course, and because it was day, the grounds were visible throughout the whole reception. The other day wedding was in Jericho Terrace in the small room. This room had no windows, and if I didn't know any better, I would think it was a night wedding. This wedding had a casual after-party at the groom's house, which was nice.
The last wedding I went to was a night wedding, it was the Friday before Fourth of July. We ate our entree very late, and I hated the gap between the ceremony and reception. The reception didn't end till after midnight, and I couldn't wait to leave, I was so tired.

Re: Night or Day?
They both have their perks and it really depends on whether youre a morning person or not.
I chose to do a night wedding based on my venue my wedding starts at 7pm so we'll be getting married right around sunset over looking the harbor.

I prefer night weddings..that is because I'm not much of a morning person.
ETA: People will come and have fun no matter what time the wedding is
My wedding ends at 11 so it is not too late.

Re: Night or Day?
I was also torn between the two... I wanted a day wedding so I could enjoy the gardens for the ceremony but wanted night to have more of a party atmosphere. So... I am going to have a twilight wedding 330-930 pm.

I prefer night. Ours is a day wedding because we couldn't afford night and make the min. I am dreading waking up at 4am the morn of my wedding to get ready. ugh.

I prefer night weddings because I work Saturdays so if it's an afternoon wedding I have to take off.

Re: Night or Day?
I prefer night weddings. I feel like I'm in more of a party mood, and I feel like I have the day to get ready and then party at night.
That being said, I love all weddings and I've been to afternoon weddings, and they have been a blast too!

Re: Night or Day?
I like night weddings I feel like people really let loose and party more at night. Day weddings could be better though because if you get a beautiful day it puts everyone in a great mood.

Re: Night or Day?
I'd prefer to have an evening wedding because it just feels like it's 'party time', but due to cost we're having a 12:30 ceremony and 2-6 reception. The good thing about it is that we're getting married in the Penthouse at Jericho Terrace which has a huge skylight. As long as the day is clear, we should get beautiful sun from the skylight.
I'm worried that since it's so early in the afternoon, a lot of people may miss the ceremony and make it just for the reception. I hope that doesn't happen.

Afternoon...
We're getting married at 3pm - and I love that we'll have sunset pictures and still not be done too late (8pm)... we're then going to 'after party' for anyone who's still interested in being out and about..

Re: Night or Day?
I was more of a night time fan before booking and now that we booked in the day time, I am starting to appreciate it more. My venue is the most beautiful for a day time wedding. All the peacocks and exotic birds will be out and the guests can admire the amazing cherry blossoms and tulips!!!!!

I think it depends on what day. I would prefer a day wedding for Sunday. Any other day I would rather a night wedding.

Re: Night or Day?
I perfer a night wedding. I think it feels more like a party and thats what we were going for. Our wedding is really late since its on a friday. I figured it would give people time to come home from work and thak thier time getting ready without having to leave early. Ceremony starts at 8pm but we will have a very late start that day.

Re: Night or Day?
I am a night wedding person all the way. I think it adds to the whole excitement factor, but that is just me! Also, I know for a FACT that I would not want to get up super early to get ready.
