Re: TTC

IUI is intrauterine insemination. It differs from invitro in that the man's sperm is collected and inseminated into the woman, where in invitro, the sperm and eggs are both collected, then the egg(s) are fertilized and replaced in the uterus.

How'd I do girls? Was that clear and accurrate??

Re: TTC

thank you JennRenee!

So when is this used? if there's a problem with the women's tubes or if the boys are poor swimmers? or both?

Re: TTC

I think it really depends on the individual case. Maybe someone has a better answer than me...

Re: TTC

I found this:
'IUI is usually recommended for couples with no known cause of infertility who have been trying to have a baby for at least one year'

I learn so much from you guys!

Re: TTC

Okey dokey artichokey!
I can add that's it's also used with people with PCOS, because that's what I have and it's been recommended to me.

Re: TTC

Just bumping this up if anyone wants to discuss TTC issues, vent or whatever.

I'm a bit dissappointed b/c I did the OPK sticks again this month and never got a postive. Last month I did but still had no luck getting preggo. Now I'm a little depressed again that it wont happen this month again. UGH! Well -- we'll keep trying this month as if I have not ovulated yet. It's so frustrating to think I might not even ovulate this month!

Anyway -- anyone else need to vent!

Re: TTC

Stef..how long have you been trying for?

Re: TTC

Jodi,
This is our third month trying. I know it's not long -- it just feels like it.

I started BBT Temping this month too -- but that's been pretty eratic since I was on vacation last week and I don't usually sleep through the night. But I'm trying it.

Re: TTC

Stef- you will probably just need a month or two to figure out your charting so try not to get toooo upset just yet. The OPK don't work if you just use the Day 14 rule since most women do not ovulate on Day 14. The temp will help you learn your pattern. Don't give up just yet.

Re: TTC

I am glad I popped in to read some of the parenting threads. We will ttc by the end of the year, and the information in here is great. I too amd PCOS, and they have only mentioned clomid so far. The IUI information is good to have. I just started seeing and endocrinologist this week, to try and get all systems where they should be to make it a bit easier (hopefully).
Baby dust to all who are ttc !!!!!!!

Re: TTC

yes, michele is right.
It takes a few months to learn your patterns.
I not only charted temps, but I also kept a journal so that daily I could write any notes that might just help me for the following months.

Well through all that I figured out that I wasnt really Ovulating every month. One month I would and the next I wouldnt.. then the next time I would ovulate it would be nothing like the 1st.

After about 8 months I turned to an RE..

If you are ovulating steff.. then just relax and keep trying.. the 'sex every other day' rule starting at 7 days after your period is a good one to go by.
It WILL happen..

LOTS OF BABY DUST TO YOU!!!!!!

Re: TTC

Liz,

Since you have PCO, I HIGHLY recommend trying Metformin before you use Clomid or any surgical procedures. I started ovulating on my own after just 6 weeks on Met. If you want more detailed info please FM me.

Re: TTC

I am glad this thread got started here, and I don't think a TAB for TTC would be bad at all. Hubby and I are going to try either by Aug or by the end of the year. He wants to start right away. How do you know when you have PCOS or when you need to go the IUI route, can the Dr. do a test before hand to find out??

I am so happy we have our own TTC thread. I hope when we get preggo I have a preggo buddy.

Good luck to all and I will send up prayers of blessing for all those that are trying

Re: TTC

Shamma,

I would go to your doc for a pre-conception visit and the doc can answer all of your questions and you can make sure you are doing things right, right now, to prepare for TTC.

Most likely unless you have your annual exam and something comes up you wont know you have any problems until your are unsuccesful at TTC. And even then you might not know what's going on right away.

That's the deal with me. On cycle 7 of TTC starting today and second round of taking Clomid. But still not sure what's going on with my body. GRRRRR..... Do everything right but it's not happening.

Meeting with my doc before we started TTC really helped me mentally get started to prepare.

GOOD LUCK.

Re: TTC

Thanks Stef, he gave me pre-natals and I am so bad at taking them and I need to be reminded I will take one after I post this. He gave me only one more refill of my birth control pill. I will stop taking them next month, then I will have a visit with my Gyn to make sure all is in order.
Sometimes it makes me wonder if the women of old our parent and their parents had difficulties??? b/c I look at some women who has like 17 children, my stepdad's mom or Roger's mom who has 11 did they just ovulate 24/7/365, not to be funny or anything, but do you ladies think there is something in our food or our environment that has caused so many of today's woman to have so much trouble conceiving???

Re: TTC
