Re: TTC

I have already been told that I will have to start with Clomid and go from there. I have both PCOS and Hypothyroid, and without BC I very rarly get my period at all. We are going to start trying at the end of this year. I just hope it does not take forever.

A friend of mine had trouble, than had a bad reaction to Clomid, they did artificial insemination, and she got pregnant on the first try. I am so happy for them, they had been trying for a while!!

Re: TTC

I just want to tell all the TTCers out there that the 'try to remain stress free' stuff is not that easy to do. I was only TTC for a few months and was going nuts worrying and charting and reading all about TTC. Often, stress can play a factor in TTC, but it is hard not to get upset when your AF (awful friend) shows up after dreaming that 'this is the month'. So my advice is to chart (at least for a while so you begin to know your personalized cycles and you have info for the doctor if you need it), read up on the subject, have fun BDing and when and if your AF arrives cry if you have to, eat ice-cream, have a glass a wine, go out to dinner, get a manicure. Do whatever you need to and then start again.

Re: TTC

Michele that is great advise. My sister was trying to TTC and it had only been a few months. She was so stressed and went to the doc and he told her 'just relax and enjoy the sex, it will happen'. Within 2 months she was pregnant with #1, now she had 3 beautiful boys!!

Re: TTC

Wow there are so many of us with PCOS. My Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) says that I am ovulating with the metformin, so we will not use clomid. He has given me four months to try with just the metformin and if nothing we will put together some type of TTC plan. Is nothing else we are having lots of fun trying.

Re: TTC

Shamma,

I have wondered the same thing -- are we exposed to different things in the environment that play a part in fertility? Who knows. But I totally agree that back then people got married younger. Heck my parents got married at 19 but didn't have me until my mom was 24 -- but I think -- holy cow I'd have a four year old by now if I was 24 when I had my first kid. But my dad said -- that was pretty old for starting a family back in the 70's. So it really puts it into perspective.

All I know is it's either feast or famine. I'm surrounded by preggos and friends who just had babies -- but yet I get online and see so many of us that are having a hard time TTC. What's the truth?

Re: TTC

so true, Liz. But I agree with Michelle, too. Its so hard not to be dissapointed or critical of yourself, or depressed that its not happening. Just know that we're all here to support you.

Shamma ... I think about what you said about infertility all the time. Doesn't it seem like it was much easier long ago? Is something going on now? But I also think of the flip side ... today we talk about it more. Who's having trouble, what are they doing to be successful ... the subject is much less taboo today.

I also think what Sue said is true too, that women started having children MUCH earlier. my mom was finished having 3 kids by 26! If she wanted to, she could have had kids for at least another 10 years.

I'm just glad that we have each other ... for whether its easy or very difficult, we've got a great place to go for support & know that there are so many more girls who can relate!

Hugs to all & lots & lots of ~~~~~~~ BABY DUST ~~~~~~~

My sister has 8 children!!! There are no twins. She was preggo 8 times. She started early. I keep wondering if I should have started sooner.

Re: TTC

Crisco, I was wondering the same thing too, mom had me at 16, not that she was trying of anything, but it just seem as if the younger you are the more often you ovulate. Is it why teen pregnancy is so high??? I am glad I waited, b/c now I can offer my child the kind of life that I am happy with, who knows if I had not waited, what would have happened. God has a plan.

I wish everyone stress free, and worry free days.

Re: TTC

Shamma - my mother had 7 of us. The first when she was 25, me when she was 45 (I am the youngest). I also think back then they did not use any methods of birth control (or at least not as many as do today) and many religions did not condone it even if it were available. The rhythm method just doesn't work that great obviously. I also agree that people never used to speak about these things as we do today. We are so much luckier as women today that we are more open and can talk about these things because we can offer each other advise and alternatives, and support when needed!

Re: TTC

I think we should have a QOTD on TTC topic???

Stef28 Posted:

Re: TTC

I like that idea Shamma.

shamma Posted:

Re: TTC

Ok, here is our first QOTD: Have you thought about the sex of the baby you would want, not that we would not all be happy with any sex, but just thinking. And if so what is it and what names do you have in mind.

Re: TTC

Sham ... why don't we post this topic on a new thread .... great QOTD!
