Re: No budget???
Yea I had a budget. It helped me not go crazy and spend lots of money on things I could do with out and I think it's helped me negotiate to get more for my money.

Re: No budget???
We had a budget. We've gone over but not by too much. Knowing what we wanted to spend on each vendor kept me focused.

We are just not going CRAZY on things, but we dont have a set budget we are adhering to. We just know what we can and cannot afford. We arent getting carried away. If anything we are splurging on our honeymoon. We'd rather allocate more $$ to that.

I never set a real budget but I did have a general idea of how much I'd be able to spend and just tried to get the best deals I could.
Same here.

Re: No budget???
We haven't really set out a price but we know basically what we're gonna spend, but that is based on pricing of things we already booked without a budget in mind.

we never set anything in stone, but i try to do the cheapest i can on everything but im just doing what i want :( thats horrible isnt it!
that's kind of what we were doing mostly because my parents were footing the bill- but I guess it backfired cuz now we have to pay for photo and video. I am not complaining, it could be a lot worse- we could have to pay for everything- so I know we are lucky. Just wish I would have planned better for it- now I have 8 mos to come up with the $$$$

we only spend money that we physically have at that moment....meaning we'll never get ourselves into credit card debt! so our budget is truly what we can afford.
Same here. It's still very early into the planning for us. We have a price 'range' we want to stay in, but the only promise we made to each other already is that we WILL NO touch a credit card!! The gifts we get at our wedding are going towards our house fund and using that money to pay for the wedding defeats the purpose.

I have a budget. If you have an unlimited ammount of funds then obviously a budget is not absolutely necessary, but its still good to track what you're paying for. Now, I don't have this luxury so I have a budget. My goal is to not exceed it.

Re: No budget???
I tryed to have a general budget but it didnt work..I went a bit over and now I am just buying what I want but I am still trying to stay affordable if that makes any sense! good luck!
ETA: I am keeping track of EVERYTHING I am spending (big and little) in a notebook. I simply write down what I bought and how much it was. I want to know the grand total of what I spent after the wedding!

I have a budget range but I am buying what I REALLY want regardless. I am sticking to the budget on some items.

We didn't have a defined budget and just did a lot of price & service comparisons.

we're sorta doing the same thing. we got a certain amount of money from our parents at our engagement party and put in a certain amount ourselves and i'm kinda pretending that's all the money we'll ever have (despite having savings at the end of the month from our incomes). does that make sense. that way we'll only use what we have.
in addition to that i'm just doing my research and finding out what the 'typical' prices are for each item, then making sure i get what's under that. =0P

Re: No budget???
I don't have a budget. I am really researching EVERY aspect of EVERYTHING to find the most cost effective ways of doing everthing. Inc luding photo, video, flowers, invites, DOJ, BM gifts... everything. I don't really know what an average price is for this stuff so it was hard for me to come up with a budget. My suggestion to those without a budget is to take A LOT of time and research...you's be amazed at what you can cut costs on. If I budgeted say $5000 for photo/video...I'd find a way to spend EXACTLY $5000 instead of what I'm paying now. It just works better for me this way

Re: No budget???
We didn't really have an overall budget in mind but we knew how much we wanted to limit the spending on certain things like flowers, hall, DJ, Photographer/Videographer, etc.
The only good thing is that since we're having the wedding at Russo's as well that saves us $$ and FH's parents are footing the bill for that so it's less that we had to worry about.
I am keeping track though because I'm curious as to how much we're spending on the wedding.

Re: No budget???
i dont really have a budget, but that doesnt mean im spending a fortune on my wedding and dont care about the cost. were just sorta going day by day and whatever we like, as long as its not a ridiculous price, is what we are getting. we are ideally trying to stay under 30,000

Re: No budget???
We have a set budget from my parents. Anything over we will be paying for (which I hope is not too much)
