Re: No budget???
I have a budget. I started with an overall budget and then broke it down for each item. If I go over in one I try to cut another down.

I have a budget. I am trying not to go too crazy with certain things because we just bought a house.

Re: No budget???
I never set a real budget but I did have a general idea of how much I'd be able to spend and just tried to get the best deals I could.

Re: No budget???
We didnt really have a budget so to speak, we sat down and talked about how much was the most we felt each thing was worth to us-certain things were more important then others. And we went from there. It wasnt like we said we have X amount for this this and that.

We have a budget and I'm trying to stick to it as best as I can. We have a breakdown of what's important and what's not so important. If there is a little wiggle room, we'll add back in ome of the not so importan but would be nice kinda stuff.
I'm just starting though...so it'll definitely be an experience.

Re: No budget???
we only spend money that we physically have at that moment....meaning we'll never get ourselves into credit card debt! so our budget is truly what we can afford.

Re: No budget???
we never had a defined budget we just agreed to do certain things or not based upon what was financially 'doable'

Re: No budget???
We are definitely on a budget. I guess it all depends on the $$ you have available. If you have a bottomless pit then go for it. Since me & FH are paying for everything we have to watch what we spend especially since we don't want to be in debt after the wedding!!

Thats how FH & I are doing it....NO CREDIT CARDS......& NO DEBT. We are paying for everything ourselves.....with a few additions from my dad.

Re: No budget???
I set up an excel sheet for a budget-can use a template. I put in budget and there is a spot for amt paid and actual price. Some things I was way off on, like the photographer, when I first started. Things have changed since I was first married 15 years ago. I was in sticker shock. I have gone over the budget for that reason but I am cutting back on many things, buying off of Craig's and making my own CPs and favors.

Re: No budget???
Yes there was a budget. Did we stick to it??? Um... My DH will tell you different.
My wedding planner was good - she kept me in check - but there is no reason you cannot do it yourself like the Bride above me mentioned in Excel.
Seriously - It does not matter if the funds are available or they are on credit one has nothing to do with another. Being realistic and organized about your spending is smart.
A budget will define where you want your money spent . You can't imagine what will happen if your not on top of these things! What can happen is you might just end up sacrificing things perhaps you never wanted to cause you spent in a direction you didn't realize very early on in the game. It is a miracle if you come under the budget or spend just that amount. Most girls go quite over or spend tokens more than they thought due to not creating a realistic number.

I'm doing the same thing you are. I try to research and make price comparisons before making the final decision. So far its been working
