How do you tell people that its and adult event only?? Im only allowing the children in my bridal party including my son, which adds up to 3 kids, but some of the people im inviting tend to bring along their daycare when they attend an event...help!

Re: No Children..
Don't address the envelope with 'and Family' just mr and mrs. If they respond with more than the 2 adults, then you are going to need to let them know verbally. Most parents should know that wedding are expensive and that most kids are not a welcome guest. I received an invite to my 2nd cousin's sweet 16 at the East Wind. It didn't address my kids, so I confirmed that my kids were not invited. With weddings, I would just assume that my kids are not invited.

Re: No Children..
we wrote Adult Reception & spread the word thru family and friends...we also provided babysitters for the OOT guests at the hotel and let them know about it in with the invites...cause we understand people have to travel with the kids sometimes...

Re: No Children..
We don't want to write 'adult reception' because it should be implied. We are having a very formal wedding at a venue in NYC and kids are NOT welcome.
My MOH is already spreading the word to those who might be problems, and she is calling anyone who RSVPs with their kids.
Sorry everyone!

well the key words are implied! And not everyone gets that!
writing adult reception is good because a lot of people will assume its family even when it clearly says mr. and mrs.
save yourself the stress and the numerous phone calls!
Ive seen this happen to 2 friends and my aunt. It was a disaster.

Re: No Children..
We will have Adult Reception on the invitations. We are only allowing our flower girls and ring bearers to attend the reception.

Re: No Children..
If youare getting married at the church on your reception card put 'adult reception at 7 oclcok in the evening'
if you are getting married at the hall you can put Adult reception immediately following or just Adult reception in the bottom corner of the invite.

Re: No Children..
write mr. and mrs. on the invites
then what i did - on my response cards - i put
'number of guests attending ______ out of two' - so there is absolutely no confusion

Re: No Children..
I am glad I am not the only one not having kids at the reception. I like the idea of hiring a babysitter for out of town guests!

Re: No Children..
I've heard you shouldn't put 'Adult Reception' on the cards but I have no choice. Too much ASSUMING goes on in my family and already people are asking about there kids. Kids rarely come to weddings nowadays. It's too expensive and most of the time they don't even eat. I am only having my flower girl and ring bearer who willbe 6 and 8. As cute as it may be kids can be a distraction that I personally don't have the patience to deal with especially on my day. God bless you if you are able to have kids at your wedding I know I can't do it.

Re: No Children..
I had an Adult Only reception and we did it by word of mouth and set up babysitting at he hotel for the parents. There was still drama. I say do both avenues word of mouth and put adult reception on the card, hopefully people will understand.

Re: No Children..
To add to this quesiton. How were you able to convince the parents about hiring a babysitter? I know in my family babysitters are usually grandma and/or other close family or friends and unfortunately the people I'm worried about are FH nephews because all the normal 'sitters' will be at the wedding. I'm not sure if they will go for having a stranger watch their kids. These kids will not sit still for anything. They were a real problem at my engagement party and even then they were told NO KIDS ALLOWED! What to do? I'm trying not to be mean but No Kids means No Kids!

Re: No Children..
You can say that it is 'Adults Only unless otherwise specified'
or even just write on the invites 'Coctail Hour and Reception for Adults'
