no gift from guests, now they're getting married...
DH's friends are getting married in a few weeks. We'll be traveling out of state to the wedding. They traveled out of state to ours. We didn't get so much as a card from them at our wedding. She was invited to my shower and spent about $20. I wasn't invited to hers. What to do? I know I should do the 'right' thing and give a gift, right?

Yup, Steph's right. Be the bigger person and maybe she'll realize she should've given a gift. You'll feel better knowing you did the right thing, but really nothing crazy, don't over-do it.

I'm a big believer in being the bigger person. I'd give a card and a gift from the registry. Nothing crazy expensive, but not too cheap.
i agree.

Please define 'not too crazy.'
We received a smoke detector from one guest. A set of 4 everyday drinking glasses from another. ha....
ETA: I can't find her registry at any of the biggies, and I wasn't invited to her shower...

i think its fair to give them what they gave you. i don't think its spiteful - you only have so much money and you have to choose how you spend it. spend it on those who are generous with you.

I agree, sometimes you have to be the bigger person. I would just keep it simple and get something from the registry.

if i were in your position, traveling oot and all, i would just give her a card w/$50...its $50 more than she gave you.

Are you even close with them? If you're not and you're only going to the wedding because they came to yours, then I'd only get them a card. If you don't see them again or only rarely, then who cares what they think. If you see them often, then I guess you should get them a present, but I personally would not. I know it's better to be the bigger person, but they didn't seem to mind not getting you anything...

I'm going to disagree with the majority on this one. I would give a card and thats it. No money. They knew better when they went to your wedding and they should know to expect nothing from you now.

I have to agree. They'd get nothing from me in that situation.

i guess for me its more like why didnt they give a gift...if it was because of financial situations then its a different story...im assuming thats not the case...then either just a card or a card and something small off the registry....but no $
