Re: No kids allowed ...( need help)

I have to say that I have been having the same dilemma. I have already had some issues with two of my three brothers. The only three children that are going to be allowed in my wedding are two nieces and one nephew, but because they are part of the bridal party. I basically said that the venue does not do catering for children. That we have to pay the same for adults and children. So, that's all.

I am not bending my rules. My FH's brothers have children and they are not welcome. My brothers have children and they are not welcome. I am sorry but it is my day, and I don't want to see children running around like crazy in the middle of my first dance, the cake cutting, (just like I saw last week in my FH's cousin's wedding).

I am also adding a small line on the RSVP about no children. I just have to word it correctly

Our cut off age is 17... I will have 4 2nd cousins that age or older, but siblings of each will not be invited. No matter where we set the age, one sibling will be able to attend while others can't. My aunt (their grandmother) said not to invite any of my 2nd cousins at all Meanwhile my brother's wedding is next year and is not inviting any of the 2nd cousins who will be 20 at the oldest.

Bottom line is-it is YOUR wedding. It's not Tutor Time, so if you want an age limit, do it!

I have babysat at weddings where I was with the children in the bridal suite, a room in the hotel, or in the reception hall but sat at the kid table, so that could be an option too

thats my same issue!!! i want my wedding to be 10 years and older and FH and i got into a whole heated debate because he is worried about what people (ie his family) will say. my mom and my sister have already yelled about me, saying its rude and asked me why i hated kids? my argument is, i have been to many weddings, my sister's in particular where there were screaming kids running around and i dont want that for my day. i dont see why you would want to bring your young child to a 6 hour reception. they will get so bored and annoyed, personally i wouldnt want to go if i was 5 to a wedding. not to mention, my mom said something like 'what are they suppose to do with their kids if they cant come to the wedding' i was like 'get a baby sitter' insanity!!!!

'dont believe in babysitters.' Sorry, we will miss you but it is what it is.

.

I DONT UNDERSTAND PEOPLE WHO NEVER LEAVE THEIR KIDS!!! IT IS HEALTHY TO LEAVE YOUR KIDS FOR A NIGHT... FOR BOTH OF YOU!! GOD!!

My mom left us with a babysitter AT LEAST once a week so she could go out ... we were all saner for it.

ITA!!!!!!! trust me, your kids will be fine FOR ONE DANG NIGHT!!!!!!

Sorry you are going through this We are doing the same exact thing. The only children that will be attending our wedding are my nieces and nephews, half of them are in the bridal party anyway and none of them are babies. We're letting some of my cousins bring their kids but they're all over 18 and adults so it's no big deal. Stand your ground bc it's your wedding and your day, and don't worry about what other people say. I'm sure when these people had their weddings they did what they wanted to do, so you do the same!

Re: No kids allowed ...( need help)

I hear you!! I wanted to have only kids in the BP but I have a feeling some people are going to give us grief over this. 2 of the young ones in the BP (FH's nieces) will be 3 1/2 and I really don't want them running all over the place. I'm inviting the grandma of one and Im actually considering hiring the cousin of the other to come and babysit her. I want those kids out of there by 9 pm the latest. I feel bad about it but I don't want their parents to have to leave bc of those kids.

I feel like you can totally invite the older one and not the younger one. A few years makes all the difference!!!!!!
