no need for drama...

Original post by smplynluv

FH was just hanging out with a cousin of his and he told fh that the other cousins have really been b!tchin about the 'no kids' policy we're trying to go by. We had spread the word from the very beginning and addressed the invites to only the adults.

One of his cousins has been complaining that he wants to bring his 3 kids (1-7 yrs in age) even though he didn't bring them to a wedding we had last weekend that didn't mention a thing about not bringing kids.

But here's the better one. The cousin he was speaking with told him that his sister said she was responding '3' because she wants to bring the terror of a 9 yr old she has but won't be bringing her younger boy. He said she's doing it to be a wiseass and to see if she can get away with it. Is that necessary?? She can very well leave BOTH boys with her in-laws, why bother trying to argue with us?

Also with 50 kids at a wedding that becomes a zoo im sorry. Ive been to events with that many kids and its too much. Parents do NOT take care of their kids at these events. SO many parents in the past have pissed me off and are so inconsiderate. I remember one ceremony where the kid was just crying non-stop, you seriously could not even pay attention to anything going on bc you had this kid just screaming so loud, and the parents wouldn't take him out. It was so rude and distracting. Another time at a reception there were alot of kids, again didnt hear speeches or anything bc one little girl stood right next to the people talking and was just histerically screaming and had a circle of kids right next to her running around playing in the middle of the dance floor. Not one parent got up to get their kids. When ppl tried to dance at first, it was hard and they had to all go on one side bc this big group of kids were laying on the floor, running all around and kept bumping into people

OMG I was at a 1st B-day party at JT (not the best idea btw) and kids were running up and down the dancefloor. On of fh's cousin's kids actually left the room, was playing around the fish pond they have and was almost out the door into the parking lot. I tell you, many parents just don't pay attention. And then they wonder why I say no kids!

I just do not understand people. We have the same no children policy. It is simply too expensive and changes the entire atmosphere of the affair. The only children at our wedding will be our nieces/nephews who are also our rb/fg.

sorry the bridezilla in me would come out if that was my wedding. i would get the microphone and tell the parents to calmt heir children down and have them sit during this time or ask them to take their child out of the room- how rude can people be

plus...why would parents want theie 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 year olds there. dont they want to get out for a night and enjoy themselves. my mom tells me all the time she was so happy when she had a wedding invitation and just her and my dad went. and i dont believe in the bullsh*t of saying oh well my baby is only a month old or 3 weeks---my mom had TWINS the week before my aunts (on my dads side) wedding and my mom was in it, left the babies and me and my brother home with my Nana and aunt and she was breastfeeding-- she did NOT see a need fro them to be there...why do people care so much about this?? lol it says no kids, say oblige or dont come

the parents dont take care of their kids hahahaha thats why they dont care about going out one night without the kids bc not like they are watching them anyways

I know! I dont get it. I already decided to stop arguing with fsil about bringing her 6 mo old.... she brings this baby to everything and she won't stop crying!! She doesn't seem like a people's person already. But whatever, she's gonna hand her to her mom or sis anyways so no prob right? Ugh, I'm not gonna bother cuz it's FH's neice and his sister is stubborn as anything. Sure, keep the baby awake until these wee-hours...

6 months ugh see that is too much. If its an evening event why would you do that. Its going to be so loud and the baby is going to want to sleep alot at 6 months, that is just wrong, i really dont understand that.

ppl are just so rude & selfish -

I hate to say this, but with this wedding planning, I've really learned about a lot of ppl - and dont necessarily LOVE them anymore....

just ignore it!

Re: no need for drama...

sad to say I have giving up on the no children thing. People are just so inconsiderate it amazes me. People that aren't even family are adding in their kids. It is annoying to no end. I mean set aside the whole issue of kids or not, if a name isn't on the invite why you adding them.

I am tired of fighting about it. I just know some people only care how their family does it & does not think about how it is NOT about them.

Well I am planning on only doing with this once, so I am letting things go at this point. I have too many more important battles than them.

UUGHHH I hate difficult people. Some people when it comes to the wedding gl feel as its fun to make the bride go through hell.
IMO If she puts 3 call her and ask her for the names as you want to create place cards when she tells you its the terror then you tell her 'Oh I am sorry but since alcohol will be served we are not having any kids in the reception'

Re: no need for drama...

I just found out that FH's 2 year old niece is coming to the reception. My 2 year old niece the otehr flower girl will be home because my sister is normal and thinks it's inappropriate for a 2 year old to be out to midnight. So now they are putting my family in a predictament on whether or not my niece should stay for the intros because the other flower girl will be announced. I'm so annoyed because I have talked about this over and over with my FSIL. SHe has 4 other kids in the wedding too(11,8,7,5) which I gave in to let them come to the reception but not the 2year old. I am beginning to really hate the inlaws

Re: no need for drama...

This is such a tough topic!

FH has so many young cousins and older cousins who have children that we just decided we could not invite them all. It would have been too much $ and chaos for us as we already have a big wedding and are paying for everything solo.

However, we are invited 9 children, our FG and RB and their siblings and 5 other children who are children of our closest friends. Also, we are inviting any children of parents who are traveling from croatia (where my family is from) to make our weddings (if they can make that trip and spare that expense)- we are happy to have their childfren there). This was FH's decision, not mine.

I worry that FH's family will take this the wrong way and point their finger at me. Although their son refuses to invite these children b/c of the $$$.

BUT, on the other hand, this is ourwedding, and they are not contributing at all. The children invited are invited b/c they are close to me and FH.

Do you think they have reasn to be offended if these certain children are invited?

HOW rude is that ! i would tell her in the nicest way possible HELLS NO!

I am having my neices and nephews there by my choice except for two of the nephews are step and I would rather them not be there since i have no connection to them and franlkly I DON'T like them ( they are terrors)

but out of respect for my brother I have to suck it up. Ages: 13, 11,9 (2) ,6 (2) , 3 - 8 total

then my FH god daughters - 11 and 6 , who are my flower girls

and then we 'had' to invite his godson , so it wouldnt be rude
so total 11 kids - i am praying no one else in the family says anything about why they are there and no one elses

well i think the answer is to explain that only kids close to us ( like my neices and nephews ) are comming , because we want this to be a formal affair .

If anyone really gets annoyed, they don't have to come to the wedding. it s*cks but otherwise it will be a zoo ! i won't hesitate to let people know either ...

wow...that is really obnoxious for someone to say, especially a family member. When you receive their RSVP I would call sweet as pie and say your sorry but if you allow one then it is unfair to everyone else.

That is really rude
