No Pictures at Church

No Pictures at Church

so i was just reading over the paperwork from the church and it says that pictures (from guests and professional) are prohibited in the church. pictures can only be taken during the processional and recessional. is this common?? i feel like i would want pictures of our first kiss and lighting the candle, etc. this might be a deal breaker for me but i wanted to first check and see if this is how all/most churches are

I went to a wedding in October and they wouldnt allow flashes and said they would stop the ceremony if they saw any.

If they dont see a flash they dont know the pix are being taken. lol

i have NEVER heard of this. i'm allowed to take all the pictures and we are also using viedo during our ceremony.

but if your really set on this church - then tell the photographers not to use flash.

what is the reason behind this? will you be able to take pics once the ceremony is over if you want to inside the church?

I've heard of this, but I would *never* book with a church that didn't allow photography! This would definitely be a dealbreaker for me.

They always say that but when you are taking pics inside with a photographer, it is ok!
They said the same thing we I got my Confirmation... when my Brother got the 1st communion & confirmation....
But once the photographers are there, they have NEVER say NO.....

We always got pics taken...

I am a membr of the Choir, photraphers go tehre and take pics of us all teh time and No one stops them!
We have sang in weddings and sweet sixteens with photographers and no one has tell them NO to take pics....

So i will just say GO AHEAD =)

Pictures are allowed in my church. the photographer just can't get in the priest's way or stand on the altar

My church doesn't like the flashes. But they didn't say anything about stopping the ceremony bc of it. And we already told them we are having video and they were ok with it.

I don't think its common for a church to say absolutely nothing during the ceremony. Thats ridiculous!! I wanna see my vows and my first kiss, and my readers, etc.

Yes there are some churches that don't allow photography of the actual ceremony. You should just double check on that though because they may only mean flash photography - you may be able to take photos without flash.

My church gave me a pamphlet that stated the photog/video peeps had to MEET WITH THE PRIEST first. I was like Fortunately the priest said it was and old pamphlet and it was no longer necessary.

I would check with the priest.

ugh, definitely check with the priest. that would be a deal breaker for me- i want pics of our first kiss!

thanks girls.. i am planning to call the church to talk with the pastor about it because i don't understand the reasoning behind it. as long as the photographer isn't up on the altar i don't see why he can't be taking photos from the pew area.

yea thats crazy they have to let you do it if the flash doesnt go off! i cant imagine no one else complaining about that before because of course you want those first kiss and special moments captured id def talk to the church and hopefully they'll let you take them!

Re: No Pictures at Church

That is crazy..all of the wedding we went to the professional photographers were not using flash anyway.

Possibly they mean no flash as it can be distracting but I would not get married at a church with that rule

If you are set on that church though maybe you can have the video guy do still shots that can be printed.

ours can take pictures but the vendor has to sign a form before the wedding saying they will follow the rules of the church on where they can stand, when they can stand in the aisle stuff like that. Actually all my church vendors have to fill out forms... the best is no alcohol will be served on church grounds ie no champagne toast in the parking lot of the church

ask the priest or deacon, i know our decon just wants to make sure the camera man isnt like on the alter or in his face or anything

Re: No Pictures at Church

many churches don't allow photography with a flash. I spoke to my photographer, and he said it's not a problem, because he can take it without the flash and use the natural light. He said he just doesn't get up close, and after the ceremony we would recreate the ring part so he can be right up there on the altar with us.

Maybe inquire about this with your church and see what they say?

Re: No Pictures at Church

my church did tell us to let the photographer know he cannot stand on the alter or be invasive to the ceremony.... kinda like they can be there but not in the way... he did mention that the photographer needs to see the deacon b4 the ceremony....

check with you photographer maybe he has done a wedding there b4 - ours did and already knows the deal there.....

I just got off the phone with the pastor and he said that the paperwork is written that way so we let our guests know that they can't jump up and take photos to interrupt the service. He said the professional CAN tak photos from the back of the church or the balcony so not to disrupt the service He said that he would like to speak with the photographer to make sure that he is aware and follows the rules of the church.... what a relief because I liked the church and pastor... thanks ladies
