FH and I had a talk last night and he was feaking out over how much we're spending for 1 day. we're trying to save for a house, and in his opinion, every dollar we spend on this wedding is taking away from our future.
I guess he has a point. But I am still sad.... no videographer, ketubah or extras for me.

i'm sorry but like you said... dh has a point... any money you save will be better spent on a house... its not just for you and dh's future, but also for any kids you guys will have... it will give you guys all a nice place to live. i know its hard... beleive me, dh and i had the same philosphy when we were planning our wedding- it was hard to give up my chair covers and chocolate fountain... but i just had to keep telling myself... that the chocolate fountain would be gone in an hour, but the $$ we would have spent on it could go toward a couch that we'll sit on for years.... i know its hard, but it really is the best thing.... good luck!

AWWWWWWW you're the best date twin!! everything is done - project wise. I just wanted to add a videographer and get a ketubah. but it's really adding up, you know? we're already spending more than we agreed to (I know most everyone does).
maybe I can ask someone to tape the ceremony for us

I know, you're right. the cake and chocolate fountain from Audrey's has been squashed. but the video and ketubah we will at least have after the wedding.

Re: No wedding extras for me
i was gonna say.. .ask somebody to videotape for you... thats what we did... my friends dad has a great digital video camera... he came to the rehearsal and everything to see where he would get the best shots.... even if you don't know anyone with a nice video camera, you could maybe look into buying one and having someone use it... it would be a couple hundred $ instead of a couple thousand..... and then you and dh would have a video camera to use for all the exciting new things you'll do together....

AW im sorry your so sad. me and fh are always saying its a rip for 1 day. just to say i do and party. if we had a bigger back yard we would of had a party here. yeah we couldnt invite any of our friends we said family only! try not to think about it. and dh's right. a house is a bit more important. especially on long island. you have to be a billionare to buy a house anymore. its a happy time. smile, be happy.

Re: No wedding extras for me
Could you compromise and just hire a company or someone to shoot the raw footage from the wedding? This way you have it on video and later, when you're more settled, you can probably bring it to any video company and have them edit it into a standard wedding-style video.?

This is what I am doing. I 'm using a film student who has never done a wedding before but he is really good with the camera (and his prices are insanely reasonable). I have a contract and everything. If we want it edited later my friend will do it for us!
I'm sure there will be no extras for us either!
Edited for spelling.

LOL!!!!! my FH hates this site.... well, he doesn't hate it, but always rolls his eyes when I am on. not because of you guys, but because of everything I see others doing and I bring it up to him. he also takes offense b/c I ask your opinions after I ask for his and he thinks I would rather listen to you than him

I know what you mean ... it is hard to stop. I never thought I wanted video, but now I wonder. I just had my shower -- I barely remeber what happened.
Just a though you could really make your own ketubah. You could find a text online (english) ....
Just a tought.

Re: No wedding extras for me
We are having a very bare-bones wedding.. No real extras, family videotaping, tons of DIY stuff....There was definately alot of stuff that we may have wanted, but saving for a house was also a HUGE priority for us so we made some sacrifices.... Extras or not your wedding will be PERFECT and BEAUTIFUL

thanks gals... you made me feel better.
my FH said something to me last night that is SO true! 'all that matters is that we will be married, that's all I care about'
how can I argue with that?

Re: No wedding extras for me
Definetely asks a friend to do it or ck out craigslist - some videographers will do it for peanuts, just to get the experience.
