non professional hair and makeup for bridesmaids

non professional hair and makeup for bridesmaids

Okay so we are getting down to the wire and now my bridesmaids are saying they can't pay for hair and makeup. They claim they wanna do their own. I have gotten very good prices for both hair and makeup and they al think its too much. 120 for updo with makeup and 80 for a blowout with makeup. We understand its a lot so we are willing to cover half which is more than we can afford and they still are hesitating to do it. We also understand that bridesmaids spend a lot but we are also giving a lot. Their dresses were under 200 which I feel is good. I purchashed their shoes, I purchased their day off jewerly and I purchased gifts for them as well. So basically all they have done is paid for their dresses. Its 3 weeks till my wedding and I am beginning to get highly pissed. They aren't professionals and I don't believe hair and makeup should be taken lightly for weddings. I don't know what to do anymore. We can't afford to pay for it in full but I don't want my bridal party looking all crazy either. Its bad enough one of the girls gained 2 sizes and wasn't able to fit in her dress and to fix it was going to cost a lot so they ended up giving her a totally different dress but in the same color. Why do people do these things to us. Us brides don't deserve this. We are under a lot of stress and do a lot.

Any suggestions. Thanks for listening

Tell them to go to the MAC counter and pay for 50 dollars of product for a make over. That's the cheapest you are gonna get id say!

the only thing I would recommend with that is that you call the MAC store in advance and let them know the time and how many girls, because the store doesn't anticipate something like that, and there may be interruptions to help other people coming into the store. But Lauren is right: you're not going to find cheaper than that!

Personally I would stress the hair more than the makeup. Let them do their own makeup and ask them to atleast get their hair done.

I will let them know about mac but we are taking pictures before the ceremony and all have to be ready by 11 and the mall opens at 10 on sundays. So this may not work. I told them to let me know this week being that the wedding is in 20 days

see if someone from MAC can come to your house.. ive been in weddings where they have done that. if your paying half then it would only be like $25-30 for them to pay

and i agree it can be annoying!!!

That I can do. I will go to the mall during the week and see if one of the girls can give me a price for coming to do makeup. Thanks for the idea

don't worry it will work out. I def think they should at least get their hair done. If u don't mind me asking you could do both hair and makeup for that price? i need to book someone for next year, thanks

Wow...thats ridiculous. You and your FH really went all out and their lack of cooperation would drive me mad as well. This is something I cleared with my BMs now...stressing hair more than make-up, but the cost mind letting them know I have to guarantee the cost to the ppl who are traveling to see us that day.

I had a MAC artist come to my house and it was more than the 50 dollars so just beware. She had to take off of work, travel so the cost was much more than the 50 dollar product fee at the store

eta: now that I think about it, for me it was 100 for the girls it was still 50!

My girls did their own hair and just paid for makeup, my makeup artist that did mine charge them $50.

Sorry they are giving you a hard time...can someone say Maidzilla?! As part of their gift I paid for my girls' hair, and they paid for their own makeup. Maybe you could do something like this? I agree that the hair is more impt than makeup, because it will be more noiceable if they did their own hair. Wedding day hair is very different to me than everyday hair, esp if you have long hair. I personally did my own hair and makeup and told them to do the same. But I didn't have any worries about them looking good. If it's really something you want, then they shouldn't be so difficult. It sounds like you have been more than accomodating.

I'm in the minority but I feel that its a big cost being a bridesmaid. I am not requiring mine to get their hair or makeup professionally done. That being said, if I were in your shoes I would have them do their hair/makeup the way they plan for the wedding day and let u see it. If you don't like how how someone does theirs then I would just pay for it or haver the girl who did the best job do everyone elses. Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet if we want things done a certain way...

I would get a cute hair item like a flower clip and have them put up their own hair and add the clip.
Makeup is pretty easy, maybe you all can get together for a pajama party and practice.
If you buy some nice lipsticks that match the dresses, you should be ok.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Other idea, is there a beauty school that would have a student who wants to practice updos?

Re: non professional hair and makeup for bridesmaids

I haven't even asked how they are planning to do their hair if they do it on their own. This week I will decide what's going to happen because I need to moce on with other wedding items. I have 4 bridesmaids and only 2 are cause this problem. My MOH and another bridesmaid agreed on giving me half which is 60. Why can't they all just be on the same page
