How did you pick your menu, did you go to a tasting? I was told that they usually do not do tastings for the bride and groom. Any info. would be greatly apprciated.

I'm going with my FH. I had a tasting with my FH and his parents about 6 mos ago, it was very good. I will probably pick my menu items soon.

Re: North Ritz Brides
We had a tasting at NRC in October, but we had to request it. And even when we requested it, we were told that we had to wait for the next available one (which was 4 months away). It seemed a little strange, but it turned out to be really good - the food was great! We were told that we pick the menu about a month or so before the wedding.

Re: North Ritz Brides
I recently moved to New Jersey so I can't make it tonight. I hope you all have a great time!!!
Thanks for the info. on the tasting, I will call today to schedule something just in case it takes a few months.
Also, for those of you who already tried the food. What were some of your favorites? Is anyone having the viennese(spelling?) I'm planning on having it but now I'm thinking it may be too much food?
Thanks

Re: North Ritz Brides
I just got back from the bridal expo and food tasting.
I really enjoyed the food! The presentation in the cocktail room was terrific. They had the pasta and crudite stations, sushi, smoked fish, raw bar, desserts and of course, the main courses: salmon, tilapia, beef, and chicken.
Liked: the chicken, beef and salmon. I had penne alla vodka and I thought it tasted very good. As well, I had the marinated vegetables and spinach pie and eggplant rollatini and they were all terrific. I enjoyed the pastrys, but I did overhear some people saying they felt the pastrys were not fresh.
Disliked: the tilapia-it was very dry. I prefer Chilean Sea bass, but I was told that it will be banned from the States soon!
Vendors: I mainly looked at the flowers and photos and I have to say that Sherwood Triarts photos were outstanding. Deja Vu had a nice presentation as well. I was disappointed that Creative Compositions was not there.
Flowers: I thought Flowers by Brian had a great presentation and a variety of flowers.
Overall, I am most excited to be married there. The place is brand new and it looks wonderful. Yea, it is right on top of the Turnpike, and that was one of my cons when intially deciding, but I am having a winter nighttime wedding, so who really cares what the grounds look like!
Well, if anyone has any questions please feel free to FM me!

I was there too!! It was soooooooo crowded we just about got some food!! The chicken was awesome and so was all the pastas--the beef was amazing as well. I thought the desserts were really good-they went so fast though!! They were only expected 150 people and then last minute they had more RSVP's and ended up with about 320 people!! That place is amazing! I feel like I'm @ home everytime I go in! It is BRAND new and Jennie who I booked with EVERYTIME I go she regonizes me and my mom and gives a kiss!! She is just so sweet-- can't deal!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!

I was there too, I could not believe how many people there were. The food was very good, I really enjoyed the filet mignon and penne ala vodka. The desserts were gone when I got there. They even had an open bar, we got martini's! I got soooo excited looking around knowing that it will be set up for my wedding very shortly! I didn't really check out the vendors because everything is booked already.

Re: North Ritz Brides
I was there too!! There were so many people. We loved all the meats, the calamari, eggplant rolotini, spinach pie, mozzarella & tomato, grilled veggies and the peking duck roll was pretty good too. None of us cared for the sauce they put on the chicken ( i think it was the tuscany w/ the beans) but loved both the ****aki and the other mushroom sauce. We all liked the pastries but I did hear someone else say they seem old. i had a cannoli and the shell was maybe a bit stale but it didn't stop me from eating it and enjoying it!! All in all we loved the food. Yes there were some things we liked better than others but everyone has different taste and you can't please everyone!
We were concerned about the seating at the cocktail and asked Gus what was the seating percentage they would have at our wedding and he said 100% which we were so happy about because we had to sit on a ledge by the window and there is nothing more that I hate than to be in a dress and trying to juggle my drink and plate. I have to say Gus is great and he makes us feel comfortable everytime we talk to him. He spent time answering all our questions last night and made us feel like he would have spent the whole night with us if we would have asked him too! I love NRC. Everyone kept commenting on how elegant it looked.
Did you know they are putting a fence up to block the street? Gus said they were getting the permit at the end of the month. Yeah!!

I was there too--could not believe how crowded it was! But, I thought it was great. The food was very tasty (but i didn't try much b/c we ate before we went! We thought it was just going to be some passed trays or something! They had everything! ). So, does anyone know if Chilean Sea Bass is off the menu for good? I was very excited about having it! My dad spoke to the owner and he told him also that they were waiting for the permit fo rthe fence and that it would be up by the summer the latest. So excited!!!
