Northport/ East Northport

Original post by BabyonBoard

Could you tell me about the area? DH and I are quite interested in this area as it seems to be in our price range and you seem to be getting 'alot'for your money as opposed to trying to live in Queens/Nassau.

Most importantly is the SD?
Most neighborthoos all have there 'bad' area where would that be in Northport if there is one.

Any information would be helpful!

TIA

I grew up in E. Northport, and I LOVED it there. I wish I could have stayed there, but hubbys jogb and business is out eats.
The school is GREAT. I loved the district, and LOVED Northport High School.

Re: Northport/ East Northport

I'm was born and raise in East Northport. My Dh and I just bought our first home one block away from the house I grew up in.

I love the number streets better than the Bellcrest area, JMO!

I commute to Queens (whitestone) every day. It takes me from 30 mins. to an one and a half depending on weather and if school in in session.

East Northport homes in the Commack SD have higher taxes. Npt/E.Npt SD you get a bit of tax break because of Lilco.

FYI:

You mentioned you were looking in Ft. Salonga, some of those homes feed into the Kings Park School District...

Wow..I want to start by saying I cant believe how many of us on here grew up or now live in the npt/enpt area..thats awesome.
I grew up in east northport and there are no 'bad areas'. The school districts are great and people are very friendly.
Thats why Im moving back hopefully in the spring.
Its a great town!

Re: Northport/ East Northport

It is funny how many of us grew up or lived in enorthport/Northport. I grew up on Bellecrest all the way down by the end and I loved that area..hubby grew up on 10th and i have to agree while it is not as ritzy as nortport i don't think any area would be considered bad by any means! I love the feel of the area but i think we are going to end up in nassau for the commute into the city (we are in queens now)..i just hope i can find somewhere wiht the same feel..Go Npt!!

Re: Northport/ East Northport

Thank you EVERYONE for your responses! It looks VERY Promising with the good school districts and such.

Someone posted about the xmas carolers and the thomas kinkade like villages THATS why I started looking into this area just to get an idea of the pricing. Some of the homes are way out of range but there are some nicer cheaper homes available for a starter.

And the commute does not sound so bad. I am 5 minutes from Bay Terrace and that commute is definetly do-able even with traffic.

Thanks again for ALL your help! We will keep you updated. We are going to attempt to start the REAL SEARCH in One Year, just trying to pay off the remainder of our CC's and raise our credit scores a bit. I cant wait!!!

THanks again and I know i have LOTS of people to ask ?;s about the neighborhood now..
