Not Doing Programs? Is that Weird??

We are doing them. We are printing our own, designed it myself and added the tassel to the binding.

I don't see them at too many weddings, but I think it's a nice extra. I enjoy getting them at a wedding.

I think programs are unnecessary. The onlyreason we're diong them is because we're having and interfaith ceremony and we want to explain some of the traditions. If we were the same religion, I would definitely skip them.

same here. my family would need a translation of fh religion. he's jewish and therefore, my family really doesn't know about a chuppah, ketubah, etc.

We are not doing programs either.. and I really don't think it is weird at all because I can't remember a program from any wedding that I ever went to.. I don't think anyone is going to notice!!!!

I was undecided about programs at first - then I learned I could print them right from my computer...

I ordered the program paper online - $48.00 and some extra toner for the printer - that's it!

IMO programs are really a nice touch - your guests have something to look at while waiting for the ceremony to begin - and it gives them the details of the ceremony and 'who's who' in the bridal party.

It won't bother me if they get thrown away after our ceremony. I've never saved a program from a wedding either - but I do enjoy getting a program when I go to a wedding.

It's a classy and elegant touch to any wedding!

That's exactly how I feel.

And I know someone said, 'if the guests don't know who's in the wedding...', but I've been to MANY weddings where I don't know EVERYONE in the BP or who they are related to. My programs list their relation to us also, i.e. Maid of Honor, Diane ****, Bride's sister.

I know the will get thrown away by some, but so sometimes do the favors, the placecard holders and other 'little extras' that the couple give out. BUT, I wouldn't walk out on a wedding that doesn't have them...no big deal & DEFINITELY money that doesn't need to be spent if a couple is tight on the budget.

I don't think it is weird if you do not do them---

They only reason I did is that the church did them for me--for free! They even coordinated them with the theme of the wedding.

I don't think it is weird to not have them. We are doing them because we thought that it would be fun to make them look like show Playbills. We are designing our own. So far it has not cost us a penny.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. We're not doing programs or favors. If anything had to be cut, those were the 2 least impt things on our list.Besides I don't think anyone would notice or care.

I am not planning on doing them either... I have 2 girls and 2 guys in my wedding party and it is just a cermony in the church not a full mass. I dont really have much to put into a program. I would rather not do it them make it look 'weak'.

And as for them having 'something to do before' the wedding starts hopefully they will say a prayer for me and my FH for a long, happy and healthy life together.

I don't think they will be missed!! I would just hate to have them thrown away, yes its a nice touch but it's like throwing away fifty bucks that could be used for something else, it's like $50 bucks I could put toward the extra seafood station that I think would make more of an impression on the guests.
