So I am not having a party for our engagement so do you think sending out 'Iam Engaged and a registry is cheap ? what are your thoughts?

Re: Not having a Engagment party
OK even if you were having an e-party you would NEVER send out your registry along with it...This is one thing you can NEVER do...you cant be the one to ask for the gifts...the only time a registry along with invite or anything is allowed is if someone else is throwing the party for you, such as a shower.
Other than that its all word of mouth and letting people ask you where you are registered.

I would send out engagement announcements, but I agree you shouldn't send out registry cards with them

Re: Not having a Engagment party
many people will call you and/or your family to ask where you are registered anyway

Re: Not having a Engagment party
You can send out engagement announcements without a registry and then people can decide if they want to give you a gift or not.

Re: Not having a Engagment party
I am not having an E-party and did not/will not send out registry info! My family members have been asking my mom if we had registered yet, but I wouldn't sent it out myself, word of mouth is fine... I think that should only be done for your shower.

yes i agree- definitely send out engagement announcements but i wouldnt send out the registry list
i dont think you are doing that to just get presents dont get me wrong but i feel it might be a little hint towards getting me a gift- JMO --

I think it's ok to send out engagement announcements....but I agree...don't send out registry notices. You can still register, and just spread through word of mouth the registry. But you will probably get money from people either way.

Re: Not having a Engagment party
announce it - no registry info.
You would want money for engagement anyway for the wedding most likely instead of a gift. And honsestly one four people gave fh and i anything for our engagement so don't expect things unless you had a party. And if you do get a present be greatful

Re: Not having a Engagment party
Just send out Engagement announcements. Not to sound greedy but you would rather them send money then a gift. You'll get your gifts at your shower.

Re: Not having a Engagment party
there are a few engagement announcements that have room for your wedding website. Our wedding website has a link to our registry so if people are interested they can do it that way too.

I agree. You and FH as well as your parents can not send out registry info. It is okay to tell someone where you are registered if they ask you of course, but its not polite to just give people the info. When bridesmaids throw your shower it is okay for them to pass along registry info, but they are not parents or you asking for gifts. But dont worry- people will know where to go because of word of mouth!

totally agree - totally not supposed to do that - some people do it for showers, but not just an announcement like 'HEY im engaged, send me something!'
