Not that we have any say in the matter, but WOTY 06...
Original post by marymoon
The site says WOTY 2006 will be announced on September. What would you like to see happen at the next event? What prizes, events, vendors?
FYI: WOTY stands for 'Wedding of the Year', an annual GTG sponsored by LIW/NYCW It features a 'mock wedding' complete with a bride and groom having a renewal ceremony as well as a bridal party and a reception. I was at WOTY 05 and there was a band and DJ playing, a photgpraher, different florists made centerpieces and the whole room was filled with the delicious smell of a chocolate fountain!
The only thing I can think of right now is the whole food issue. it was really hard, since we shared dinners and being a vegetarian there was only one thing I could eat, but I couldn't take more than 1/8 of it, since we had to share
Also, I would have liked better goodie bags, with more prizes, etc, instead of just ads. But it was a lot of helpful info. It may have been cool to see the florists at work somehow, and also the hair/makeup artists.
ETA: I don't mean to imply that Ron and Liz and the rest of the LIW NEED our advice in planning the WOTY. They did such a great job and I think WOTY 05 was a great success.

A lot of guys are like that., but when there's a 42 inch plasma at stake, they often change their tune!

Its too bad I wont even be a newlywed in September yet...I would love to be in the bridal party but I doubt FH would want to touch it with a ten foot sterlized pole!!!
If we had to vote...I'd vote 4 LP for Bride of the Year....for all her support, her kind words, her amazing laugh, and true 05 pride!!!!!

I'm so happy for LP winning the $1000 this year. Maybe her luck will rub off on me!

i might have to bring another man with me though, i know already my fiancee wont' want to go, he doesn't like to go to anything or get dressed up for anything. [/QUOTE
He dosen't really have to get dressed up... and last year there was a special for the 'guys only' contest where Julie's husband won a plasma screen tv!!! they announce before that day what the prize for the guys will be
My FI would do just about anything to win that TV

There are 3 dishes put on your table and you pass them around the table and everyone takes a tiny portion. I loved the concept of the WOTY and will probably attend in January just to meet some of you ladies but I was disappointed in the lack of different vendors and living in Nassau I happened to win a prize for a vendor way out in Suffolk County so it was never used. I still think that Ron and Liz came up with a great concept though.

BUFFET STYLE DINNER !!!
I AGREE 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That would defintiely be inexpensive, and would eliminate the awkward food sharing thing!
Buffet Definitely! Because the Cocktail Hour and Desserts were awesome. The sharing dinner plates was not.

I woudl rather have a buffet of appetizer foods than an actual sit down....I was starving by the time I got home...and I felt that since I was paying to attend, an actual meal wouldve been nice.
