Not the usual 'and guest' question...

Not the usual 'and guest' question...

So we are inviting FH's Aunt's in laws to the wedding (it's just the way they roll lol). They are elderly, and require a nurse aide at all times for FH's Aunt's MIL. We are obviously inviting the aide a) because we need to and b) because she takes care of them.

But what's the appropriate way to indicate this? Mr. & Mrs. X & Guest (allowing them to assume we mean the nurse?), Mr. & Mrs. X & aide? Mr. & Mrs. X & Nurse?

Or just Mr. & Mrs. X and let it just say 'three seats have been reserved for you...' on the personalized rsvp card?

I would send the invite to them like this Mr. & Mrs. X & Guest because they will know that the Guest is meant for the aide.

or if you knew her name you could add it to the inside envelope

so Mr and Mrs x
guest name

Well, the problem there is it's not always the same nurse, so while I do know one of their name's, there's no saying she'll be with them that day.

i wouldnt worry about putting it on the invite just call them and let them know that the nurse is invited

I would do Mr. & Mrs. X and guest and I would def. have FH call his aunts and make it clear to them that by guest you guys meant nurse lol Would he call or FMIL could?

I agree. If you know the nurses name, then you can include her on the invitation. That would probably be the easiest way.

I'm sure FMIL will handle it...I think I'm going to put 'guest' for now, unless I get a guarantee of the name of the nurse that day. It would be degrading a little to say 'and nurse', right?

Yea, I dont think putting nurse would sound too nice. Putting the name would be the best, if it is guaranteed that she will be the one working that day... but guest would sound good too

I think personally I would just put Mr. & Mrs. X and then have it say 3 seats have been reserved for you and just call them and give them a heads up that the 3rd seat is for their aide.

This is what I would do also. Have whomever is related to them call and let them know. They will aprreciate the invite

I don't know if they would know and guest is meant for the aide.

For my grandfather we sent the aid a separate invitation because she has been with him for 9 years. If you know the aids names I would just put their name on the invitation.

For FH's dad, well obviously they close enough to the wedding that we just told them to bring one. You could always do that, just make it word of mouth.

If you want it on the invitation, I would say put it on the inner envelope if you have one as 'and aid' but not on the outer envelope. if you don't have an inner envelope then I would probably write and guest but talk to them and make sure they know who the guest is implying.

I would ask them the aid & nurse's name and put their name on the invite.

we did this for dh's grandmother, her aide went with her everywhere, it was the same one.

You don't have to send an invite if its a different one all the time. You can just speak to one of the aide's, let them know about the wedding and that someone needs to go with her.

Re: Not the usual 'and guest' question...

My uncle has a home health aide. Its the same woman who took care of my grandmother before she passed. So I think I might put MrX on the envelope, but put MrX and Zippy on the inside.

Yes, her name is Zippy. She loved and cared from my grandma for a year and a half before she passed away. When my unles needed help we called her in again. So its nice to have this woman share in some of the good when she took such good care of my grandma :)

I think I'm leaning towards this now....I'll have to run it by the closer family members, and I'm sure they'll take care of the word of mouth.

Thanks girls!
