that sounds like a great idea. You will all have alot of fun and it will be nice and intimate.

Thats sounds like a stellar idea...that way it can be a combination housewarming eparty...to welcome you both as a new couple!!! You can do something simple in your backyard. I think that will probably work out perfect for you.

We were thinking about getting a tent and table and chairs and then going to Sam's club or BJ'S and getting the food!

Re: not to sure
I had a e- party in june we had family and only friends from the bridal party it was buffet and we had a DJ @ a resturant ... our parents split the cost.. i think i ran around 3k ...but FH and I didn't register and made about 5k in gifts so yes it was worth it cause we are paying for 80 % of our wedding so it kick started the saving ...dont get me wrong there was the usual drama FMIL was a pain in the a$$ and we had about 100 ppl ...it was fun though

NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE JMHO - I just feel bad asking people for gifts for the same reason twice - I know how i have felt giving a gift to a couple for both the engagement party and then again for the wedding and it gets expensive
By gifts i mean monetary gifts Again, JMHO - but I have also been invited to e-parties where the invite said 'NO Gifts Please' and I thought that was nice that they just wanted to celebrate their engagement

Yeah exactly...I think its great for our families to meet. Our parents have met a couple of times and get along great but the other family members. Its good bc next time they will all see eachother will be for rehearsals and the dinner and then the wedding, at least by then they will all know eachother
