Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

Original post by sugarnspice

I will preface this with I am moody so I dont mean this rude AT ALL........

Can all of you skinny girls do us a favor and stop saying your fat. I totally get that you may not be happy with your weight and have every right to feel that way,.diet, whatever.

But to be someone that is way thinner than some of us on here, its a bit insensitive. If you think YOUR fat, what do you really think of us.

Im not trying to be mean, its just that alot of you say your gross and huge etc, and i know that id kill to look like you, and it honestly makes me not want to meet anyone of you since id be more self conscious than i am normally.

Im sorry if this made you hate me, but its how i feel and I had to vent

i say im fat all the time. and i def dont do it for attention. i gained 40 lbs and every1 from my past that has recently seen me goes'omg u gained so much weight' do i sometimes cry? yes. did i do something about it? yes.

i also have a 2nd job where every girl is a size zero. im known as the 'bigger girl'. my manager even asked if i was preggers at one point.

so when u sit and point fingers(prob at me) and roll ur eyes when i say im fat...dont. we ALL have insecurities.

we're ALL women here(except for john, hes half ) and we vent about everything..

but PLEASE do NOT feel insecure about meeting any of us. no1 is perfect and no1 sits there and grills any1 up and down. if they did.. theyll get a quick kick in the face by me. i promise

I have a similar thing as Barb, when I was younger I was always athletic (track, soccer, everything...) I was a size 3 at 14 years old, then I busted up my knees bad and couldnt be athletic anymore. I gained a HUGE amount of weight and was up to a size 12. It has taken me YEARS to get to how I look now, but I will still always see myself as the chubby girl who was always the third wheel with all of her friends...
I understand where you are coming from, but dont forget that some of us have different situations and see ourselves totally different than other people see us (maybe some of us have had eating disorders, maybe some of us are having bypass surgery, maybe some people have body dysmorphia, maybe some of us use diet pills religously, maybe some girls swear by weight watchers...). We are the one's who have to see ourselves without clothes, no one knows what we are really hiding under them and how we see ourselves in the mirror!!

Just bc some of us are very critical of our own on bodies doesnt mean we are doing it for attention or going to be critical of someone who may be larger than us...We are all women and we all scruntinize every inch of our bodies, it doesnt mean we scruntinize everyone else though...

I just hope you all understand where im coming from . The reasoa of my post was to explain that I am hesitant about G2G or whatnot because now I know what you would really be thinking.

I was not trying to cause drama, we get enough of that with the fakers so just know i wasnt trying in to invalidate anyone's feeling, but state mine

I definately do understand where you are coming from and I dont want to speak for anyone but from the other replies, I think everyone understands you are not trying to start drama and DEFINATELY not like miss fakerr crazy.

Re: Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

I'm going to comment on this...and although I know this is a public forum and anyone can read it, I want to be completely honest.

I want to be able to open up to you girls and share a personal little bit about myself (without discrimination).

I have the worst self-esteem of anyone you will EVER meet. When I look in the mirror, I don't see what everyone else sees.

For years, I've obsessed over my weight. I've been to doctors, therapists, everyone. I used to take sleeping pills and sleep all day to keep myself from eating. I used to nibble my lunch to keep myself from eating too much. And even if I was a size 3, I felt huge.

I know you hate hearing skinny girls say they're fat, but please please please remember there are two sides to every story. Just because someone is skinny, does not necessarily mean they are happy with their body. I don't think anyone on here is trying purposely to make anyone feel bad. But, some girls, like me, might actually feel bad about their bodies.

And yes, my friends and my FH yell at me all the time for saying I'm fat. But I'm not doing it for attention. I really feel that way, I wish I didn't. I wish I could love my body the way it is. But I can't help my low self-esteem. I can't help how I feel. Who can ever really control their feelings?

Re: Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

I need to agree with Colleen and Gaby on this one.

For example, you may look at me and say 'she's thin. She doesn't need to worry about her weight.'

BUT...it's only because I lost almost 50 pounds 2 years ago! I went from a size 10 (barely, probably should've been a 12) to a size 2-4. It took A LOT of work, and it still does take a lot of work. That's why I work for Weight Watchers. To help keep the weight off now. Even now sometimes in meetings people ask me what I'm doing there. It's not until I tell them I've lost almost 50 pounds that they understand.

But just because I lost my weight, doesn't mean that I am comfortable with my body yet. There are still days I look in the mirror and see the old me. The 50-pound-heavier me.

So please, I understand and respect where you're coming from, because I've been there. I've been the 'heavier' friend with lots of skinny friends around. And I always heard the same things. It wasn't until I lost my weight and people started saying the same things to me that I really understood. But you can never know someone's situation unless you ask.

ETA: if you don't believe me, I know I posted a before and after pic of me somewhere. I think it's on the WW Support Thread.

SummerBride10... Having the courage to write that says alot about you. You are stong because you have faced your deamons just being willing to talk about it. That was a really powerful response, I have tears in my eyes.....

For everyone else. We are all Beautiful... sure somedays we won't feel that way, and we are all way to critical of ourselves. I am of myself, I beat myself up all the time. I hate that I do it and no I can't stop doing it either. However, we all have so much to be happy and thankful for. Sure some of us might never have the body of Britney Spears (pre-babys) but we are all beautiful and amazing in our own ways. We have men that love us for who we are not the way we look. We are all lucky and I love and appreciate each of you the way YOU ARE

Re: Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

i think whats important to remember it how not everyone is meant to be skinny. not everyone is meant to be that size two. woman come in all different shapes and sizes, thats the truth to the matter. i used to get upset all the time when i was younger. i have NEVER in my life worn a bikini, NEVER. and i used to be thinner that i am now but ive always been thick. even when i used to run 5 miles everyday on the track team, i was still never a size two.

you have to learn to deal with what God gave you but that does not by any means say that you cant work hard to try to better yourself, for yourself! the girls that you (AND I) see as skinny minnies might not think that they are thin enough. we are so hard on ourselves and always looking to better ourselves. just bc they think they are fat, does NOT mean they are comparing their bodies to yours. its a personal thing. i dont hink you should beat yourself up over this.

everyone is beautiful for own reasons!!!!

---- and this is coming from a bigger (size 12) girl!!!

I think it was Barb who said we all have insecurities and I completely agree. We always want what we can't have. To be honest, I'm a little speechless here....gaby and colleen made excellent points. As a public forum, we are here to support one another, so I understand where you are coming from as well.

Re: Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

so I have not yet read everyone's posts...but i just wanted to reply....

I think everyone, within themselves has thier own comfort zone....and when your not at that comfort zone within yourself...your not happy...

i used to be a competitive gymnast and dancer....I used to train over 40 hours a week...i was NEVER a smalll.skinny girl....i was the muscular/thicker girl....all my friends were the skinny girls...I remember going shopping with them and being so sad all the time...but mind you my body was toned and great (i, of course, just didnt realzie it)....i also had coaches all the time telling me to be thinner and what not...it played a big part in my self-esteem or LACK there of.....I think my junior year of hs...i didnt eat...or I ate and got rid of it...it was the summer of diet pills and running in a sweat shirt in insane 90* weather...

i still did not feel good about myself....

then college came along and it was near impossible to keep that body of mine....i wasnt training 40 hours a week anymore...my body was tired....really tired....

then came the slew of surgeries, hospitalizations and illnesses that have kept me out of eating healthy (not eating enough) or working out bec i couldnt....

so sept. my mom said to me..pick something...pick any diet to help you out...i picked one...i lost 28 lbs...and have maintained it....am i happy? not all the time!!! i lost a lot of weight but to me i could have lost more (and for me...still working on it)....

Somedays i wake up and i feel wonderful! i wokred hard and committed to my plan and go me!

other days i wake up and im fat, and gross and all these things! Am i? no...but to me I am...

So i think it is what people feel within themselves...and the stories that bring them to that point....that make them feel the way they do internally...even tho externally...they look wonderful...

I dont think not one girl on this board is going to judge you or me or anyone for not being a size 2 or whatever....the girls i have gotten to know on this board are amazing girls...I cant wait (size 2 or 14 or what ever it is ) to meet them!!

Re: Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

I know where everyone in this thread is coming from.

As someone who has never been 'skinny', I know what it is like to hate when thin girls say they are fat. But, having been at times thinner, I always saw the fat size 18 girl in the mirror even when I was a size 10. My size 18 clothes would be hanging off of me and I still saw an elephant in the mirror and simply would not listen no matter how much people said I looked good.

For heavier girls who feel like the skinny girls are judging them, it is not about them. It is about you and your perception of yourself. None of them are going to be looking at you and judging you. It is you judging yourself. And they are not to blame.

I've been there and done that. I've missed out on some fun times because when I was heavy I thought everyone would think I was ugly. I stayed home, found excuses to miss out on parties and everything. And I was the one who suffered because I was judging and punishing myself.

I'm a size 16 now, and I learned to love myself. I was actually a size 20 last summer, and thanks to Weight Watchers I have dropped 30 lbs. But even at a size 20, I didn't let the weight keep me down.

And if someone thinks I am fat - they can eff themselves because their opinion of me makes no difference. I have a great job, great family, and wonderful man who loves me no matter how I look. What the scale says is no longer going to make me ashamed and miss out on a good time.

Re: Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

I hear what you're saying but on the other hand, we all go through periods of weight gain/loss and even if you're a size 0 to begin with, even adding on 3 pounds makes you feel uncomfortable in your own skin. Especially when Aunt Flo's visiting, my body doesn't seem like mine and I'm flabbier and just feel fat so I say I feel gross, etc. It's just an expression.

I agree! I think size has nothing to do with how smart, sexy, fun, and great someone is.
