Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

Original post by sugarnspice

I will preface this with I am moody so I dont mean this rude AT ALL........

Can all of you skinny girls do us a favor and stop saying your fat. I totally get that you may not be happy with your weight and have every right to feel that way,.diet, whatever.

But to be someone that is way thinner than some of us on here, its a bit insensitive. If you think YOUR fat, what do you really think of us.

Im not trying to be mean, its just that alot of you say your gross and huge etc, and i know that id kill to look like you, and it honestly makes me not want to meet anyone of you since id be more self conscious than i am normally.

Im sorry if this made you hate me, but its how i feel and I had to vent

gonna add my 2 cents...
Dreamchic and SummerBride - that was incredible of u to share... And in that spirit will share some of mine:

I myself never feel or felt beautiful or pretty. I was never one of those girls like my bff that walks into a room and all guys' eyes are on her. Never even had a bf before my FH. I always associated that with how I look. That was crazy, now I know. My FH isn't with me cause the way I look or don't look and if he was he wouldn't have been my FH.
I have recently lost 12-15 lbs and feel great, but still some days I look in the mirror and hate what I see. But, I never say that I'm fat, or would ever say to anyone else they are. That's just me. I've been both so as many of u who have lost weight know how both sides feel.

I am glad that we have this forum to support each other and share experiences as women who do come in all shapes and sizes. Most of us have good careers, or studying towards their degrees BA's, MBA's and PHD's. And all have ideas and sense of humor. This just shows the kind of women that are on this site.

I can't wait for a GTG!

Wow...what a powerful thread from each perspective...

It always puzzles me when I hear girls saying they are fat when it is obvious to the world around them that they have not a ounce of fat on them....but being in the mental health field I understand the complexities that make up self-esteem and self-image

I think we all have something we would want to change about ourselves

I lost 25 pounds on WW and gained about 15 of it back...I couldn't be more pissed at myself. But the best way to feel better is to be proactive and take back control over your life!!!

And if someone thinks I am fat - they can eff themselves because their opinion of me makes no difference. I have a great job, great family, and wonderful man who loves me no matter how I look. What the scale says is no longer going to make me ashamed and miss out on a good time.

Thank you. I just want to say it took me a long time to feel that way about myself. I think alot of it has to do with FH always telling me how great I am and how beautiful he thinks I am.

Its great that you spoke your mind. I hear where you are coming from since I was always the chubby girl and still are. Don't let others get you down. I lost 65 lb on ww and gained back 33 when I went off so I toughened up and are going back. Even when and if I reach my goal ill probably think I'm fat.

I've been to the g2g and I have had nothing but fun. We talk weddings and don't sit around going omg she is so fat. Don't be afraid to come. Who knows you could walk out find some new amazing friends.
:hugs:

I wasn't originally going to comment, because I wasn't quite sure what to say, but I've decided to add my two cents because I think I figured out what to say!

I have not been skinny or 'average' since I was 2 years old. I'm a size 22 right now and would absolutely love to bring that down. One summer, I dropped 80 lbs from walking about 1/2 mile a day. It's possible for me to lose weight rapidly. I just get so tired and worn out sometimes, and I also suffer from migraines. But I've promised myself on May 13 of this year (exactly 1.5 years before the wedding) I am starting to work out and eat right, and that's IT. No excuses. I've given myself a couple of weeks to say goodbye to my old life style graciously.

I, too, used to hate when people around me would complain about being 'fat'-- but now I don't get aggravated. Because I see that everyone has an insecurity that they are working against, and people say it and they aren't saying it for attention or to make you feel bad, they are just saying it with their own insecurity in mind. I think that it would be great for everyone to support the struggle against insecurities in general, because I truly believe that everyone is beautiful in her/his own way.

i totally get what your saying, but you just have to remember girls are much harder on themselves then other ppl...so if a girl says shes fat and gross that doesnt mean shes thinking badly of other people...don't let it bother you.

i say im fat all the time. and i def dont do it for attention. i gained 40 lbs and every1 from my past that has recently seen me goes'omg u gained so much weight' do i sometimes cry? yes. did i do something about it? yes.

i also have a 2nd job where every girl is a size zero. im known as the 'bigger girl'. my manager even asked if i was preggers at one point.

so when u sit and point fingers(prob at me) and roll ur eyes when i say im fat...dont. we ALL have insecurities.

we're ALL women here(except for john, hes half ) and we vent about everything..

but PLEASE do NOT feel insecure about meeting any of us. no1 is perfect and no1 sits there and grills any1 up and down. if they did.. theyll get a quick kick in the face by me. i promise

I have a similar thing as Barb, when I was younger I was always athletic (track, soccer, everything...) I was a size 3 at 14 years old, then I busted up my knees bad and couldnt be athletic anymore. I gained a HUGE amount of weight and was up to a size 12. It has taken me YEARS to get to how I look now, but I will still always see myself as the chubby girl who was always the third wheel with all of her friends...
I understand where you are coming from, but dont forget that some of us have different situations and see ourselves totally different than other people see us (maybe some of us have had eating disorders, maybe some of us are having bypass surgery, maybe some people have body dysmorphia, maybe some of us use diet pills religously, maybe some girls swear by weight watchers...). We are the one's who have to see ourselves without clothes, no one knows what we are really hiding under them and how we see ourselves in the mirror!!

Just bc some of us are very critical of our own on bodies doesnt mean we are doing it for attention or going to be critical of someone who may be larger than us...We are all women and we all scruntinize every inch of our bodies, it doesnt mean we scruntinize everyone else though...

I usually dont butt in on these threads but the saying some girls do it for attention kinda bugged me. Again I have a situation the same as barb and gaby. I was super athlete. Was playing a different sport for each season. Then I blew out both of my knees and was soooo depressed that life wasnt the way it was I ballooned up. Now a part of me knows that I was probably at some points too skinny... like a size1 because I was soooo obsessed about my looks and being athletic looking so I would be eating like one meal a day and over working out.but at my biggest I was a size 14 and hated how I looked. Now I have been working my butt off and havent done as well as gaby, or teri but Im working on it and am down 15lbs now do I think im as big as I was no but I still think Im fat (and so does my wii fit...b*stard) so yes I am a size 8 but for my size that is fat. I dont know who said it but I have a huge booty and that is never going away no matter how thin i am so I have accepted it and grown to like it.The first step to feeling good about yourself is not giving a sh*t what others may think. If you worry about what people might say about you you will def be missing out and never leave the house.

I just want to clarify that I never said I thought people were making comments for attention. I believe that they feel that way. I wasnt trying to invalidate anyone, I was just trying to explain that its similar to sayingI hate halter dresses, I know when you see my halter dress, what your real thoughts are.

I think I actually aggrivated a few people with my comments, and that wasnt my intention at all

I understand what you are saying but..even us skinny bi^^&es are not happy though.
For instance, I know I am thin, But I have a pouchy belly that makes me look heavier than I am sometimes.
So if we say we look fat, that might be what we mean...

And sometimes the anorexic jokes REALLLYYY bother us.
I don't; get why people would never tell fat jokes but feel it ok to say skinny jokes to skinny people...
I have heard so many hateful things at work that made me cry...

I agree. AND i'm a skinny girl.

I'll say i'm untoned but i have never ever ever said i'm fat cuz i'm not stupid and realize i'm not.
I also hate skinny girls who say they are fat and only eat rabbit food.

Hope this makes u feel better!!

Re: Not trying to burn any bridges here but.....

now im considered skinny (i lost some weight so i wasnt really before).

but i do understand what it feels like to hate your body, to feel uncomfortable in your skin. i have friends who are 'big and beautiful' and have really high self esteem!
no matter your size or how you look, its how you feel inside. and that feeling gets projected on the outside to others.
