November 2nd girls.....

I know there are few of us here..... is anyone else having guests who RSVP'd yes now say that the NYC Marathon is going to make traveling to your wedding difficult?

I have several guests in Manhattan and New Jersey who have already said that they may be late because of the alternate traffic patterns and street closings due to the marathon. A few had said they probably wouldn't be able to make it, even after RSVPing yes, but are now researching alternate routes to hopefully come on time.

When FH and I booked this date, we had no idea that the NYC marathon would be scheduled on the same day. We had to work in between my school schedule, his business trip schedule (lots of weekends!) and the Jewish calendar. It took a while to come up with the date that worked for us and our families.

Anyone else having problems?

That is BULL. If they says 'We're going to be late' -- they can LEAVE EARLIER! Rubbish. I understand there will be problems in NYC, but you can always allow yourself more time so that you aren't late.

i agree that is insane. WE also had a wedding to attend during the hurricane on sept 6th and we made it, you just leave earlier if you can and thats it or find an alternate way.

Thanks for all the responses. That's exactly what I was thinking, just leave earlier.

I've driven to weddings in Maine, Pennsylvania, and Kingston, NY, and each time there were problems with directions, traffic, construction on highways, etc, but I managed to get there just fine.

I read your replies to FH and we agree..... we're not going to let this bother us now.
