Now I don't know what to do

I was all set to quit my horrible job in NYC because I couldn't bare the principal...

So I get a call tonight from a lady that I work with who is having major problems with the principal as well...she wanted to know if I had found anything and I said no...and I told her of my plan to quit and she was like...you can't do that, you don't want to have that gap on your resume and you are getting married and most of all that I will show the principal that she really got to me...

honestly I know that she means well and was really trying to be helpful BUT I cannot bare to go back to that place...I was sooo depressed being there and I think that I was developing an ulcer at the end of the school year...I can't endure another year

Can you ask to be transfered to another school? See if there are openings, and then tell your principal that you want to experience a diffrent grade.

Well there is a whole tranfer process...that I missed in April...she was supposed to help me BUT she has not returned me e-mails...she wants me out..and I want out..

What happened between you guys that she is such a b****? I also heard that if you taught in the city, they won' t hire you on Long Island....this is making me nervous....I graduate in December and have to start looking for a teaching job too! Maybe we should all move somewhere else!!!

Maybe there are ways around this. If you are hired by another NYC public school, I thought you just had to be released by your principal.

We had a teacher come to our school my first year sometime in January. She was unhappy at her old school, our principal hired her and her old principal released her.

Definitely don't go back to a school you don't like. I hope you are able to find something.

Where did you hear that from??? The city is a great place to gain experience...just don't stay too long..is what I have heard

I know several people in my district that taught in the city for a while, and then got jobs here. You hear so much from other people...everyone has their own opinion.
