After rearing your child, giving them sweet 16s and education, you have enough for a wedding, GOOD LUCK!

I will have step daughters. I plan on helping with their education. When they get married, I will definitely contribute in some way but not pay for whole thing.

No one is paying for us. It's very expensive and I don't expect either parent to pay.

My FMIL bought my veil and gave me money for shoes as well as paying for girls' dresses. My Mom gave me ZERO.

I am not upset. I don't think it's up to the parents to have to pay. Sometimes kids expect way too much. This is why the country is in so much debt...but I am on a soapbox now...lol

I plan to do EXACTLY what my parents did. When my sisters and I were each born, they set up two accounts for each of us: a wedding fund and a college fund. I have been lucky enough that I didn't need to take out any loans for college, and my parents are paying the bulk of the wedding costs.

I would love to be able to give my children the same luxuries.

I plan to do the same!!!!

I would definitely like to have wedding and college funds for all of my children. Not sure how we will do it, but I would like to save something each month for them.

iTA with the other others who said they will try their hardest to save for their children's weddings/college, starting when theyre young. Also, in lieu of recent events, id also like to add that i would support my kids in whatever decision they make....

Last night FH & I where talking about the cost of the wedding & how lucky we are that our families are helping us, even if its in their own strict way. I made a comment about how, by the time we get married FH & I will be together for 10 years & I think my parents planned very poorly about saving for a wedding.

So, we decided that if we do have a daughter we will put away a certain amount of money every year that will go towards her wedding. If she is not married by 30 then we will give her the money to use towards the purchase of a home.

excellent idea! right now, i have a monster savings acct. for my daughter, who's almost 10. this is thanks to lots of saving and lots of monetary gifts. she will be able to use this any way she wants by 30.

We will open an account for our kids (whether boy or girl or both) and just contribute money to it. When the time comes for college, buying a home and getting married, we will use these funds.

YES... I will contribute lol My parents are going through a tough time right now. My father was laid off so we have been taking on most of the costs. I would really like to be able to contribute some money towards my future daughter's wedding. My mom has been great in helping me prepare (choosing my dress, visiting vendors, making my invites etc...) I would like to help out in the same way also :o)
