I was at a party last night and I was explaining that my girls were going to carry Calla Lillies. This lady told me that I should not do that because they are associated with death and funerals. Has anybody heard this before???

Never heard of it, and I went to a wedding in September where the girls carried calla lillies and it looked beautiful.

Regular white Lillies are usually associated with funeral.....not Cala lillies....they look completely different.

Why do people open thier mouths? Didn't her mom teach her that if you have nothing nice to say then don't say it at all! Calla Lillies are beautiful and I am having them at my wedding.

omg.....that is not true....i think of wicker baskets filled with greens and certain flowers when it comes to a funeral
calla lilies are like the most beautiful flower for a wedding

lilies i've heard of but not calla lilies...maybe she doesn't know what calla lilies look like and just assumed that they look like regular lilies?

I hate when people tell you what to do at your wedding. IT'S YOUR WEDDING. Do whatever you want.
You only get married once, and you don't want to look back at your wedding photos/video and regret that you did not have the flowers that you wanted.
I have seen plenty of wedding with calla lillies and they were beautiful. GO FOR IT!!!

My sister carried Cala Lilies for her wedding, and I had mini cala lilies in my bo-k which was actually the suggestio of my florist.

I went to a wedding last night and the bride carried calla lillies! It looked pretty! . I do have to say that I noticed you have to reinforce the stems because they get flimsy. Also, hers didn't look as white as they should, I think... they were missing something to me.
As for the meaning behind them, don't listen to anyone... you do what you want to do. If you don't, you'll regret it on your day when you see some other flowers and wish you did calla lillies!
