I looked at 5 Halls all in NJ, then since my friend had her wedding at the FLoral Terrace and Both me and my fiance REALLY liked the place I figured it would be better to do it there since I already knew the food would be excellent and the price was awesome! so the Floral Terrace was the 6th place. :) Take your time looking, thats the most important aspect about your wedding! the FOOD!!!! Good Luck! XOXOXOXO Kitty

25 - yes, I'm a little neurotic, but I wanted the perfect place. I was super close to going back to the Old Field Club and trying to negotiate with them because the price was out of line with every other place I saw. It had exactly the look I wanted, but everything was a la carte (the CH, the dinner choices, the CAKE, the valet parking). It was one of the first 5 I looked at, and the banquet manager I met with told me he had just taken over and was going to redo the entire wedding package.
But, everyone I knew told me to go to East Wind before I went back to the Old Field Club. So I did. I fell in love with it, went for a food tasting and the rest is history. I got the ambiance I wanted together with the menu at the right price, and I didn't have to haggle (although I did and got a few things thrown in for free, but that was a different kind of haggling than I would have done with Old Field).

Re: Number of Halls Visited Before booking???
We called about 15, and actually visited about 8. As soon as we walked in we knew it was what we wanted and cancelled what was left to be seen.

Re: Number of Halls Visited Before booking???
Hamlet Willow Creek Majestic Gardens Westbury Manor Giorgios East Wind Estate- the winner
we were on our way to see Lands end , but my parents knew I wanted to book east wind- so, all of a sudden(parents in another car) did a quick turn around, called my cell and said, why are we wasting our time, do you want east wind? i said, yes, so we were off to east wind!
I called lots of others...gots prices of others...searched pics online...
In my opinion, every place may have something you are not fond of, but you will get a feeling when you know it is the right place for you. Keep looking , compare your notes, You WILL find THE PLACE! Promise!

Re: Number of Halls Visited Before booking???
i looked at 5:
swan club george washington manor three village inn jericho terrace milleridge
i chose milleridge. i really depends what is important to you. for example, minimums were important to me. i am having a small wedding (60-70) and i was able to eliminate many b/c of the minimum. i called tons of places and was able to eliminate many places. also the one wedding at a time was a deciding factor. and price was another thing.
HTH.

Re: Number of Halls Visited Before booking???
total venues 2, including the one we booked. I loved the first (a restaurant in Brooklyn), thought it had lots of potential but the price was way to high. Second place, loved it and the price was about half of the first.

Re: Number of Halls Visited Before booking???
We looked at: 1. Metropolitan 2. Swan Club 3. George Washington Manor 4. Riviera
But had been to weddings at Fox Hollow, Jericho Terrace, Leonards, etc.
Looked at North Ritz Club last and booked. We did A LOT of research online which helped us narrow.

Re: Number of Halls Visited Before booking???
I looked at 17 halls. I was like you, and didn't love any. I fell in love with one place and then I went back and didn't like it as much. The place that I finally booked was very elegant, yet not gaudy. It's not on the beach like I always wanted, but I really don't know if you find that 'perfect' place.

Re: Number of Halls Visited Before booking???
I bought the LIWeddings Reception Guide at CVS and we mapped all the locations and tried to see as many as we could. If we didn't go see a place it was because it was way tooo expensive (Oheka, etc.) or because we've been to weddings at those locations. I think it was important for us to know that we looked at all of our options before deciding. Good luck!
Wow, let me see if I remember:
Chateau La Mer Arianna Crest Hollow East Wind Floral Terrace Fox Hollow Harbour Club Jericho Leonards Majestic Gardens Sand Castle Thatched Cottage Meadow Club Villa Lombardi's Watermill
And of course, The Swan Club
In our top four were East Wind, Villa Lombardi and Fox Hollow.
