Does the pen really work?
This all sounds like a great idea! I actually got a card with a number on it a few years ago I had no clue why?!!! lol

I didn't do it, but only because each guest's name was already filled in on the RSVP card. Otherwise, I would have done it.

I also thought people would look at the number and see where they were on the list. Where did you find this black light and pen? It's a great idea!

I actually got it from Steve Spangler Sciece - it was an invisible pen and a little blacklight keychain. I think it cost $7 total.

Great, thank you!

I did it and was so thankful that I did!!! I had a lot of people with the same last names and I can't tell you how many I got that only said Mr and Mrs. So and So (meanwhile there were 15 couples with the same last name!)

I did it for the same reasons that other brides have posted. I decided to get very Mr. Wizard with the whole thing and I used invisible ink that you could only see with a black light (it came with the invisible pen) I know that some people have looked to see what 'number' they are and they take it as an indication of how far down the list they are, so I wanted to be safe

We numbered them with a silverish pen since the invites are on very dark paper. I did not try to hide the numbers at all but I suspect some people probably did look to see which number they have though

I did it...not only because I knew people would reply with no name (and they did) but also because there were about 20 people with the same last name, so this helped tremendously.

Just another reason I love this site. You ladies are a wonderful resource....

It never even occured to me that people might not fill in their names...

Whew, thank God for you ladies...

Yes, in case anyone forgot to put their name, or you couldn't read their handwriting.

What a great idea...never thought about doing it, but I can see how it will be useful. Definitly will be doing it when it is time to send those invites out.

Thanks for the ideas.

Do people really do this? What do they do, call you and demand to know why they are numer 47 or whatever?
Of course they do this, I know I am silly for even asking the question, but it boggles my mind sometimes to think about what other people get all worked up over.

You can also number the rsvps under the stamp, so you can't see them unless you need to.

True story - I was invited to a friend's wedding and got a call from another friend asking what the '238' number written on her RSVP card was all about and asking was that how far down the list she was or something? People will surprise you!
