I numbers ours and I'm glad I did because some people didn't put their names on the rsvp cars (for some unknown reason).
One of my dad's friends actually wrote, 'Mr. and Mrs. 57 will gladly attend.'
I can picture my brother doing that.
We numbered ours, I just put the numbers very small in the back of the response card in the lower right corner. If anyone wants to question about their number order, I will let them know everyone was listed in the order I got the addresses, so there is no rhyme and reason to it!!!

Re: Numbering your response cards?
I wrote the numbers in pencil on the back of the card. I was not only worried about the blank cards buy also the Mr. and Mrs. X cards. Hello??? ALL of my uncles are Mr. and Mrs. X - which one are you??

Re: Numbering your response cards?
Yes and for good reasons
1. some of my guest just wrote how many guests and NOT thier name
2. I cant even tell you how many RSVP's I got BACK FROM THE POST OFFICE in PIECES- at least 3!!!! they gave me an apology letter saying it got caught in their machine! without that number I would have been screwed!!!, I couldnt make out any of the names, it was all smudged and dirty! the inside number saved my azz!

Re: Numbering your response cards?
I did it, but wound up not using it and recording it. Each RSVP HAS A NAME AREA FOR THE GUEST TO PUT NAMES IN, SO I FIGURED I DIDNT NEED TO GO ANY FURTHER, BUT ITS BEST TO DO IT TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.
