wow i am so sorry!!!!! like the other girls though, i truly believe this was a blessing in disguise!!!! the timing is really crappy but when you think about it, now you will be sooo rested for your big day!!! go to unemployment TOMORROW, and I also agree you should bring something against your employer for physically intimidating you, firing you is one thing, bullying you is another.

as for unemployment, my fh gets it every winter when he gets seasonal layoff.... he gets a certain amount from unemployment... and then his company pays him whatever unemp. doesnt, so basically he makes the same salary during the winter for doing nothing. He doesnt have to look for work because it is seasonal, so i know his situation will be different then yours. i just wanted to say, definitely do it online, its much faster and easier than calling in. we were in turks and caicos and him and his brother (both work for the same co.) went online that sunday to claim their benefits! i say take full advantage of it while you can!!!

Thank you girls so much. I feel so much better reading all of your posts. I know that you are all right, because i too, believe this is a blessing in disguise.

I am going to write everything down today, and i will have it notorized. I did get a great idea, about calling HR to see if they will say they fired me for something else. i may have my FH call to negotiate, or one of our friends (who is another atty.) I totally plan on fighting for unemployment b/c that is whats fair. i will keep all of you posted .

For now, i will try to find a job - next week, and concentrate on our wedding. you all the the most wonderful advice and nicest and supportive things to say, and I thank you.

You sound like you are doing well today! I was thinking of you this morning as I was remembering an old job of mine. Let's just say I have been there...

You have a good perspective on things. They will give you the unemployment - I think it will cost them more to fight it than to just give in.

i am just going to clean my house today and relax, watch 'a wedding story' be on here, eat, work out. be a trophe wife. just kidding. im going to try to enjoy myself actually!!!

ill probably make my FH a great dinner tonight, too ( i LOVE to cook, so ill put out our china, and make a really romantic dinner)

I think it is a great idea to write everything down and having it notarized. Better to be safe than sorry. I'm sorry this happened to you right before the wedding. Was your boss invited? Make sure they won't be showing up now!
At least now you will have the time you need before the wedding to get things finalized. I hope this does not add to your stress. Just breathe and stay strong!

First of all

Secondly, I had a friend that the same EXACT thing happened to him. It was (I believe) 2 months before he was to get married and he was fired for insubordination. He was very shaken at first but was able to collect unemployment and it really did turn out to be a blessing in diguise. It was a time where the market was very down but he took the unemployment and 2 months off and just burried himself in wedding planning and got SO much done. He found a job a few months later that is so much of a better fit, but he was so happy, in the long run, that this did happen.

Best of luck with everything and remember, as dim as it may seem now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, my boss was invited, but has not responded, so i DOUBT i will be getting the RSVP back. I will count it as a NO, b/c if she did show up i will call the police.
