i haven't read the actual book itself but i did read a lot of articles about how reactions are mixed about it since it is a hard core vegan diet as well as a mix of animal rights. some critics said they felt that since it is pushing an agenda of strict vegan living due to the author being a stark animal rights activist....that it doesn't qualify as a diet book as much. as well i think some doctors don't recommend the book due to lack of necessary nutrients. (not that vegan living is bad--but that this particular book wasn't the best at demonstrating it for nutritional purposes)

did you find that it was realisitc in the food choices and ideas and all the things it tells you to avoid?

I read the book and agree that they are pushing to be vegan and that some of the stuff was
I found the beginning of the book better then the end (I felt they slowly brought on the vegan agenda) and have heard that a lot of what they are saying as facts, have no references or grounds to back them up.

I personally haven't read it, but my friend who has said it's the 'anorexic's handbook.' I guess basically after reading it you don't want to touch food ever again.

The food choices aren't realistic. They give 'brands' to look for and stuff...I agree with a another poster that said the begining was good but they slowly pushed on the vegan and animal rights information. They tout lots of beans and veggies obviously..it was disappointing b/c I felt by the end of the book I was just being pushed an 'agenda' instead of a heathy lifestyle....

There were a few statements in their that I felt would not be good for young teen girls to hear....b/c it seems like you just don't eat much at all and they kind of say that that's ok..your body will get used to it.
