NWR: Anyone suffer from tinnitus??

Ive had it since I was 18 and right now its driving me nuts. Sometimes its so loud I get nauseous. Ugh.

Yes!! I have had it since I was 18 as well. Don't know why. I have no loss of hearing or anything, which is often accompanied by tinitus. Lucky for me, the pitch is a bearable one (usually). When I am stressed or tired or sick, it is worse.

I used to sleep with a white noise machine, before FH came along. It helped to mask the noise. I have also heard that niacin can help, but i haven't taken it.

Have you spoken to a doctor?

I have to try Niacin. I have degeneration of hearing also. I cant hear in that ear if there is background noise. Last time I went to the ear doctor he told me I lost a few pitches. Its usually manageable but sometimes its just so annoying. Right now Im nauseous and dizzy from it. Ive never tried any kind of treatment. I think I got it from listening to my walkman ridiculously loud when I was younger.

OMG!!! i do too...really bad! its so funny because nobody has ever heard of this and many people dont understand. i have had it since im 21 when i had a very bad ear infection. since i am an elementary band teacher it is just out of control!!!!! the noise kills my ear at the end of the day. i cant hear that well out of my right ear when there is the slightest background noise . its very frustrating and its nice to know im not alone with this annoying thing!

Yeah no one I know has any idea what Im talking about. The background noise thing is annoying. I listen to the TV so loud you would think an 80 year old woman lives in my house. Hopefully they come up with some kind of cure before we lose our hearing completely.

i have never heard of it! but i just looked it up because i do always have problems with my ears. I do hear Whooshing and sometimes faint sounds and im not a self diagnoser. but its interesting to hear about this.

I need to go back to the Dr. about my ears. i always feel like i have fluid and my hearing isnt as great as it used to be. Its prob not this but it just reminded me that i really need to go back and get it checked out

oh maybe i can help because i am the queen of ear problems. i had a similar problem like you...swooshing sound of fluid. it turned out it was because my bite was so off tah the way my back teethe came together they would hit and then my jaw would slide into place. taht grinding motion caused the joints to swell. the only way to fix it was to surgecally expand my pallat and get braces to line my mouth up...real fun. so i would suggest going to an ENT first and if they say there is no fluid id go to a orthodontist or tmj specialist.

Hey girls....just letting you know that I am an Audiologist in Plainview...if any of you suffer from tinnitus its a good idea to go to an ENT and get some testing done. If you want to FM me about it, please feel free. This is what I do every single day. Or if you want to make an appointment, you really should. It's always a good idea to get that checked out.

oh thats good. im sure your orthodontist would have noticed. mine told me my upper jaw was alot narrower than my bottom so a year ago i had surgery to expand the bone (very painful) and now have braces. it could be fluid or even tmj. well i hope you feel better and everything works out.

Just so you know sometimes tinnitus can be something more serious especially if it's only in one ear. Any questions, just FM me!!!

Have you tried using a white noise machine at night when trying to sleep?

Do you use ear plugs? Whenever I go to a concert, or even go to a club or bar to listen to music, I wear ear plugs. My hair is long enough to cover them. It helps a lot. I forgot them once when I went to a concert earlier this year and the pain was HORRIBLE and it lasted for days. I thought that it might be permanent.

Re: NWR: Anyone suffer from tinnitus??

I have a lot of trouble with my ears because I have TMJ really bad. I get riniging sometimes. But mostly they feel stuffed especially my right ear. It's a nightmare. Nothing I've tried helps. Does anyone else have TMJ?
