NWR - Are you more a city or country girl?

Original post by shoegal68

i just got back from my long weekend in vermont. My FH is a country boy & hates NY. mostly because of the hustle & bustle and its soooo expensive.

anyway, he kept hinting about moving to vermont. maybe not now but in the future..everything is such a long drive. you need a car for everything. the nearest super market is about 20 minutes away. no night life whats so ever... i was so ready to come home.. there isn't a whole lot to do. we went with some friends on their boat on the lake, but i am sure that gets played out after awhile.

the average cost of the house in vermont is about $195K and taxes are about $1,500... can you imagine that!! the houses are pretty nice too !

just wondering who likes the city life over the country

Hmmm..... I'm definitely a suburb girl!

Where we live is perfect...... any store, anything you need is within 5-10 minutes, and there are also farms, and country-like things, too!

Plus, it's so much cheaper than LI!!!

I'm a true city girl but FI is so used to living in Cali and living in the burbs that he's becoming more country.

I'm definitely a suburb girl. The city exhausts me, but I dont enjoy spending lots of time w/cows either. Where I live now I can easily get to the city OR someplace rural-ish in about an hour. Plus, the mall is 5 min away. Whats not to love??

ditto on that!!

i like a little of both.. i like being close enough to the city to enjoy all the great things about it....with a little bit of country... but not too much. I'd go nuts in a place where it's too quiet with nothing around for miles... it's a nice visit but i couldn't live there.

im a city girl.. but i dont think i would have a problem adjusting to living in the country.

FH and I have been discussing moving upstate to the Saratoga area... I spent all of my summers as a little girl there with my grandmother.
