NWR: Atlantic City

NWR: Atlantic City

FH and I usually go on vacation in January. We are both in graduate school so the vacation is something that we really look forward to so that we can relax and unwind from everything.

This year we aren't going to be able to take a vacation because we are saving for the wedding. I reallllly wish we could because I love being able to travel to a hot climate and just relax on the beach.

This year we're thinking of maybe going to Atlantic City for a few nights so that we can at least get away for a few days since we can't take a big vacation.

Since I have never been to AC I have a few questions:

* Do you recommend going to Atlantic City in January?
* What is there to do in AC besides gambling?
* Is there a lot to do there in January?
* What is the best hotel to stay at (clean and close to everything)?

TIA!!!

the last few times i have gone we stayed at Tropicana. its really beautiful. recently re done. if i recall correctly many of the hotels connect so you don't really have to go outside.

other then gambling there are clubs & shows you can go to. they also have outlet shopping near by.

I agree the Borgota is #1 down there, check for shows also you can go to a spa and get massages I think the Bogota has one

The Borgata is definitely my favorite, however, it's not on the strip, so you can't really walk to any other hotels. But if you are only going for a night or two, you really don't need to leave.

If you stay there, definitely check out the Water Club. It's a new tower and is amazing!

Borgata rooms are great...but IMO the Tropicana is so much more fun and just walking around you feel like you're on vacation! There are tons of restaurnats, bars and of course shopping at the outlets!

ita, its downfall is not being on the strip but i think its the nicest hotel there.

If I'm going with FH it's definitely Borgata. It's away from the strip and all the other hotels/casinos but it's definitely the nicest. Has more of the upscale Vegas feel to it, nicer rooms, etc (but it's more money also). They have a really good steak house, blanking on the name but we love it! We don't go out to clubs so I can't even tell you if they have on there. I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly . . .

When I go with girlfriends we go to Tropicana, I think it's more of a 'fun' environment, lots of cute little shops, bars, a club or two, restaurants and it's just all around less money. Make sure you stay in the new tower at the Tropicana, the old one is pretty 'dated' to put it nicely.

We stayed at Harrahs and they had an indoor pool with was really cool, with a bunch of hot tubs. it turns into a club at night which was pretty cool too.

My thoughts exactly The Borgota is Gorgeous but the Tropicana is full of great places within the hotel. LOL I felt the same way about being on vacation when I stayed there.

I went to AC in January for our anniversary 2 years ago. We stayed at the Trop & it was fantasic. We were lucky & the weekend we went it just happened to be 70 degrees out lol so we were able to walk around outside without it being too cold. But the Trop is close to Ceasar's & the mall and the outlets. They have some really nice restaurants & the Comedy Club was awesome. I would also try Borgata.. I've never stayed there but I heard good things

If you dont want to stay in a Casino - try the Chelsea Hotel. It is right on the strip and within a 30 second walk from the Trop. It is a boutique hotel that is gorgeous - it also has a delicious restuarant and club and also a spa. We stayed there this past weekend for a friend's bday and highly recommend it - and we can't wait to go back - We had a room on the 10th floor and the view of the Atlantic was gorgeous!

We go to AC in the winter for the exact same reason.

I fyou want to be near everything, stay at Caesars. It's on the strip and it's the nicest, cleanest, most up to date hotel I've stayed in other than HArrah's and Borgata (which are NOT on the strip.. you'd have to drive or take car service or the Jitney to get over there.Plus, Ceasar's is conected to the shopping, 'The Pier Shops' Fantastic. I bought a ring from Movado there for 80% off

But the Borgata has the most going on in one hotel, I think. 2 clubs, great restaurants, the comedy club every night.

The Trop has comedy shows every night also

Great restuarants: ***** in Cesars, Ombra in Borgata, There's an Irish pub that's pretty good in Tropicana for lunch, Sonci on the Pier at Cesar's,

Things tend to be quieter in January, but there are still things going on on the weekends, so as it gets closer to JAnuary, you can actually look up online what'll be going on in the city whenever you'll be there. Things tend to be DEAD during the week though as far as entertainment and often Jan is when a lot of places choose to close some of their restaurants for what the call 'deplaning', I guess cleaning and renoavtion...

I've stayed at Ceasar's, Borgata, Tropicana, and Harrahs, all multiple times. Harrah's was dead int he winter, almost everything was closed. Tropicana has some shopping, but not as much as Ceasar's. Borgata is beautiful and fantastic, but isolated, so that's your call where you want to be. Ceasar's is more central and if you want to visit Harrah's to go to the pool, you can hop on the HArra'hs shuttle which stops only at Harrah's, Ceasars, Bally's and Showboat.

Our stay at Trop was less than fantastic as far as service, so we try to avoid it there, but we visit to eat, shop and go to the comedy shows.

FM me if you have more specific questions!

Re: NWR: Atlantic City

Tropicana is usually the cheapest and more geared towards a young crowd. I like the room in Trump Plaza better but we gamble in other casinos if we stay there. We always book through Orbitz and with promotion codes it's always the cheapest compared to doing it through the hotel or other sites. Also, Harrah's usually has good deals. The Borgota is really expensive to stay at. There are restaurants, clubs, lounges and bars in every hotel there so there is something to do no matter what month you go in. Also, there's outlets a few blocks away, a mall in the Tropicana and Ceasers has a mall too with high end stores, gucci, etc.

Yes, Borgota is definitely higher end than the other resorts. Borgota is thee shopping spot w/ exclusive/specialty shops as well as eatery & restaurants. Harrah's is the middle range with nice restaurants & clubs if you're interested in dining and leisure. Rooms are not as lovely as Borgota. Caesar's is more known for outlets and spa which is closer to the boardwalk & view.

We usually go for My birthday in January and we stay at the Tropicana. You don't have to go outside that much. During the day you guys can do some shopping by the outlets over there. I do not reccommend the Borgata in the Winter. Its very nice, but once you are there, you are there.......:)
