NWR Baby shower
Hey ladies! So I'll be attending to baby showers over the course of the next 2-3 months. I haven't been to a baby shower since I was little, so I'm not sure what the going rate is for gifts. What do you guys normally spend on the gifts?
One of the showers is for a really close friend and the other one if for a college friend - not sure if that makes a difference.

For my FSIL, my mom and I spent about $200. We picked a variety of things off her registry and made a cute gift basket. But for friends, I would spend somewhere around $100 to $150.

It totally varies for me. If it's family member (like a cousin) my immediate family usually chips in to get a larger gift so it's usually about $50-75 each. But for good friends I spend around $100 or more if I have it in my budget.

I spend between $100-$200 for the showers I've been to, but I also REALLY enjoy shopping for baby stuff!! I try to get something that the parents may have on their registry that is for when the baby is a little older (a carseat or a bouncer), because they get mostly everything they need for a newborn from everyone else.

I almost always make a diaper cake. I buy the diapers to make the cake and then I buy bottles, burp cloths, pacifiers, etc to decorate with. And I also ALWAYS buy a wubby. This is a wubby: http://www.target.com/OpenZoomLayer?template=scene7-image&image=Target/13052118_is&omniZoomPartNumber=13052118&swCellSpacing=10,10&swHighlightThickness=1&swBorderThickness=0&itemTitle=Tiddliwinks+Safari+Friends+Security+Blanket+-+Brown&omniImageCount=1
the blanket with an animal attached. IDK why I call it a wubby still. I think since all my friends are moms and I worked at a daycare.. it will always be a wubby.
also.. instead of a card I get a book. A nice hard cover and write something to the baby. I usually get the hard cover of Corduroy or Where the Wild Things Are or Harold and the Purple Crayon. Those were some of my favorites as a kid :)

OOHH!! I forgot to add that!! I also always write something on a book instead of a card. And I usually get a Sophie the Giraffe, because as cute and useful as it is, most moms won't spend $15 on a teething toy for their child. Sophie is French and organic, so no matter how much the baby chews on her, she won't harm the baby.

I usually spend $100 unless it is a close friend or family member, then I spend more.

I love the wubby idea! My close friend has monkey's as her theme for bedspread stuff so that would be perfect! And I love the book instead of a card idea!!!

Wow I didn't even realize this!!
Also, I'd spend $50-$100 depending on the person. If
it is for family, $150-$200.l
