NWR: BC Pill.Embarassing question

So, I am supposed to get the 'friend' the week of our wedding.

My Dr. told me to go through my pack of pills and then the week of the 'placebo' pill to immediately start the next pack... Skip the placebos all together and just start with a new pack.

Today was the day I was supposed to get 'my friend' but haven't gotten it and feel achy.

Is doing this supposed to make me skip a month? I'm confused. (I'm embarassed to ask this question on the board but I can't get a hold of my Dr.)

did you keep taking the active pill?? if so that will make you skip your period, you can do that on months you have an event (like u'r weeding :) )

Yes, skipping the placebo pills and starting a new pack immediately will trick your body and you won't get your period. You may still get the symptoms you normally feel when you get your period - cramps, bloating, achiness, etc - because your body was preparing for your period, and you basically said, 'nope, not this month!'

Did your doc tell you to do this for this month, though? Or only the week of your wedding? I don't think you need to do it more than that one time. You know what I mean?

If you skip the placebo week you won't get your period for that cycle. Then you'll get your next period (provided you take the placebo pills) and all the following periods a week earlier than you usually do since you skipped that one week of pills.

aaah ok. Thank you. So I won't get it this month then....
Then I'll get it a week before my wedding, right?

Thank you ladies for clearing that up. I just feel really crappy right now. Achy etc.

I did that a while back to skip my period & I still felt like I was going to get it for about 2-3 days- all the normal symptoms & then they went away no problem and I didnt get it. The next month, it was earlier though for me anyway

Yes....continuing to take the pill without taking the placebo will make you skip thismonth..it supresses your period.

You might still feel achy and bloated but you should be fine.

I don't think there is anything wrong with calling your Dr. and having him/her explain it though..Im' sure they get these questions all the time.

Thanks so much!!!! I am going to give her a buzz anyway!!!! I was concerned because I was feeling all the symptoms and wasn't sure if I was supposed to get 'it' or not.

Sometimes people have spotting, cramps or other symptoms when they do that. That's probably why your doctor told you to skip the placebos now instead of on your wedding week. I wouldn't worry at all.
