I've had mine for about 10 years now. Never once got infected. I totally I forgot I have it, don't even notice it anymore. You can tan with it, that isn't a problem. Only once in ten years have I taken it out. I needed a bone density scan and they had to take it out, no biggie. Seriously, I don't even notice it anymore.

i agree with this - i totally forget i even have it most of the time.

OK who's got em'?

I wanna get one after the wedding

does it hurt?
does it get infected alot?
I heard u cant tan with one?
How the hell do you change the jewerly?

What is the low down ladies!?

It hurt like crazy when it was bein done and was sore for about 3 weeks but nothing excruciating.

Mine never got infected (have had it 7 years)

You can tan with it! LOL!

Its easy to change the jewelry. You unscrew the ball and slide it on out. But I wouldnt take it out for a couple of months to let it heal.

Your speaking with a Human pin cushion ....I have had just about everything pierced at one point in my life .....as well as tattoos

--- it doesnt hurt - its easy to change and you can do what ever you want - tan anything doesnt matter - takes about a week till it feels better about a month to heal and 3 mts before you should change it -

I got mine last year and it didn't hurt actually getting it done, but the part that hurt was when they were clamping the skin for like 5 minutes or more. Mine got infected in the beginning because the hoop kept getting stuck on clothes and sheets and things but after cleaning it a lot it was fine. It was a B*tch to take out!! It took me and FH two full hours to do this and we finally did it using two pliers, if you ever would have saw us lol Good luck!

I had one for about a year. It fell out one night while I was sleeping. I left it out for two days and it closed up. It was always infected, even after a year of having it, and I cleaned it all the time. It got really irritated when I would sit , and my jeans would rub against the earring.

It didn't hurt when I first got it, but it hurt a few days later. I couldn't tie my shoe for a while.

It hurt, and I watched when they pierced it. I should not have watched because I 'lost my lunch' because of it . I had it for about 2 weeks, and everytime I looked at it I felt sick so I took it out. If you do it, DON'T LOOK!!!

I got mine done years ago. I can't remembere if it hurt when they pierced it, but I remember it hurt a LOT that night. It also got infected a lot and I finally gave up on it a few years ago. Asked 2 doctors to take it out for me and they didn't know how so I finally did it myself with a pair of pliers and a pair of scissors! I still have a scar (not from the scissors...from the piercing)

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, I have the same thing and it KILLED....you are brave to say it did not hurt at all

Lets put it this way.... eventually when I have kids and want to breast feed, it will be in the way.

Ive had mine since I was 17

It did not hurt when I got it

It got infected.. do NOT get it in the summer because it looks nasty for quite some time.

I didnt watch when they did it.

The first one they do at the piercing shop has to get taken out by them with a special tool.. I change them myself now

Re: NWR-Belly button piercing

I got mine done when I was 18 - it hurt a little, but the anticipation was MUCH worse. I used salt water and antibacterial soap and it healed beautifully! It got infected twice, but salt water worked wonders, and honestly I think it was just very irriated from wearing stockings everyday. Needless to say 10 years later I got sick of it and took it out this past summer.

ETA: I didn't change mine for a LONG time, but after I started doing it, it was no problem....just like changing an earring! One thing I forgot to mention also was that I got it done when I was in college - and really had nothing to do so I was able to be very careful with it and wear loose comfy clothing....I'm not sure how I would have fared if I had a job where I was required to dress up, etc. Just something to think about.

i got one when i was 18 and in college... kept it until about a year ago (about 7 years). it hurt a bit to get it, i think it depends upon your body how much it hurts... the flatter the abs, the more pain you will feel. i had a bit of an infection in the beginning, but it went away, and changing the ring was very difficult for me - it creeped me out to remove the ring from the belly and i had to have other people do it. when i finally got sick of it and took it out fh had to do it, and i still have a scar.

I'm kinda confused why so many people have them get infected....is it that the skin is sensitive there & some people are allergic to the metal or such?

Mine kept getting stuck on different things, like clothes or sheets and the constant pulling just started an infection

Re: NWR-Belly button piercing

I've had mine pierced for almost 5 years now.

It didn't really hurt when they pierced it, i thought putting in the jewelery was more uncomfortable than anything...

I've only had one infection. .and it was after i put in a silver rod..and the cure all for that is crushing up tylenol put a dab of water in it to make a paste and apply it to the infection...it will eat out the infection over night! Worked like a charm!!!

Also stick to surgical steel jewlery, you are less likely to get an infection and it will last forever, not tarnish like the others...Just make sure you clean is very well and move it around a lot.

I just have to work on getting my sick pack back...its hiding under some fluff!
Good Luck!

Re: NWR-Belly button piercing

Got it pierced during high school - eons ago - and still have it Its what's left of my rebellious side. It was my most painful piercing (and I had a number of piercings back in the day). I figure that I'll take it out when I get preggo - so not for a while.
