NWR - Best Furniture Store???

Hi ladies,

We're just closed on our new house and we are looking for a new sectional for the living room. Can you tell me what the best furniture store is in terms of quality, and shipping time? My husband and I act like absolute beasts sometimes, so definitely furniture that is sturdy and easy to keep clean but affordable! We went to Macy's and they had some really nice stuff, but shipping was 10-12 weeks!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

Just stay away from Jennifer leather/convertible.

Lost of complains with district attorneys for poor quality, customer service, etc.

Took me 8 months and 5 replacement sofas to be the issue fixed.

I second that, they are horrendous!!! I used Ethan Allen, pricey, but good quality!!

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

Is there one? I feel like ALL furniture stores have a TON of complaints.

I was VERY happy with Fortunoff for our Dining Room set (got the WHOLE set for 600 bucks! Big, Glass Rectangle Table with 6 Beautiful, Upholstered Chairs).

Had a MILLION headaches and spent a BILLION HOURS on the phone with all levels of Levitz furniture. Got my sofa sectional from them. We LOVE it, but it took a lot to get it in a reasonable amount of time (2 months). Got the mattress in 2 months (they tried to delay it another month... I flipped on them). Took 3 months to get some of our Bedroom set... and 6 MONTHS to get our SLEIGH BED!!! Love the furniture... hated the process and the service.

Tiffany Furniture on Rt 110... kitchenette set. Bought it and it was delivered with NO problems that week.

Home Depot - Area Rugs... Great Service... Great products.. got a great sale - best prices.

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

mmmm i love ethan allen!!!! i also love peter andrews for cute things and BELIEVE IT OR NOT i found some nice pieces at lay-z-boy (with good quality)... otherwise, for great deals i liked the place and seigermanns on route 110 in f-dale.

ETA: and if you are looking for a dinette/kitchenette set--hands down, the best prices and service/quality i've EVER seen is this little tiny dinette plaza store in commack on jericho right past the ruby tuesday next to the commack volunteer FD on the left side (it's in the same shopping center as the animal hospital)... AMAZING!! and the stuff comes FAST!! ... HTH

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

i got a great bedroom set from fortunoff. no problems at all even when i had to reschedule delivery at the last moment. they were very accomodating. only annoying thing was that we orderd a bedroom set, an extra table, a storage bench, and two lamps all on one order - but for some reason in their system it broke it out into like 3 orders with different order numbers making it a little confusing every time i called customer service to schedule or reschedule. but overall i would highly recommend them.

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

Raymour & Flanagan will deliver in 3 days if you order a stock item (w/o making fabric changes) & the prices are about avg. The Place also has a large selection and is right down the road (Carle Place, Glen Cove Rd) or they have a loc on 110 also...
We ended up doing Jennifer because our doorway to our co-op was too small for the bigger pieces and Jennifer has 'apartment sizes'...I second the girls above & would stay away if we couldv'e found smaller pieces elsewhere..

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

I went to Value City Furniture, they have some great prices! FH and I were hesistant to go there for furniture thinking the quality is cheap, we're used to shopping for Broyhill and Lexington quality furniture. Middle to upper middle range quality stuff.

But the stuff at VCF are quite good. They have Broyhill and other famous maker brands too...

I just purchased a very nice, big Broyhill buffet from VCF for $1000 and they are delivering it this Saturday. :D Quick considering I ordered it a week ago... and I wanted it ship on a Saturday!

I've also gotten nice stuff from FurnitureLandsouth.com which has GREAT prices too, but they are abit slow 'cus they are down in South Carolina....

HTH!

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

I think Macy's is the best (we bought bedroom and living room furniture from the store on Glen Cove rd).

The shipping takes a while, but as far as refunds or exchanges go (like if the furniture is damaged upon delivery) they take it back, no questions, no problems and they replace it.

That alone to me is worth going through them. YOu can trust them. Two of our pieces were scratched when they were delivered (probably by the delivery company) and they were exchanged immediately. With Macy's I think you are safe.

ETA: we trust Fortunoff just as much!

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

I too have had great experiences with Fortunoff. We have purchased a sectional, a mattress, wall units and all have been delivered on time and customer service was great.

Please stay away from Carlisle Furniture on Glen Cove Road. If you want details feel free to FM, but take my word and stay away!

Best of Luck!

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

JC Penneys. Believe it or not. The Sunrise Mall location has a nice selection of furniture. We got our bedroom from there. The quality is great and the prices are good. The delivery was right on. They were awesome. They even offer payment plas sometimes. Like a 6-12 months interest free.

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

My parents get most of their furniture from Levitz and have never had a bad experience. They just got new leather furniture for our den and it got delivered yesterday. They picked it out last Wednesday and it came today. Also, they have a great policy for damaged furniture. If they cannot fix it, they replace it no questions asked (as long as it is under warranty). They always have 0% APR too.

Re: NWR - Best Furniture Store???

North Carolina Furniture in Manhattan is a GREAT resource! It's located in Manhattan but they're website is ncarolinafurniture.com. They're the kind of place that you call when you've seen what you want in another store, give them the manufacturer and item/sku numbers and then they beat the price 90% of the time. You'll see manufacturer catalogues on their website or you can brief through books at their office, but they have limited pieces in their showroom. Don't bother email them for price quotes because they don't really respond quickly that way. But they've been great when I've called them.

HTH!

Actually Furnitureland South is in North Carolina...about 15 minutes from my house! That place is CRAZY--over a MILLION square feet of showroom.

ANYWAY, here's food for thought. The reason why there is sometimes such a lag time when ordering furniture is that the pieces either need to be made, or get shipped from over seas. Because of my location, I was able to get my bedroom set in about a week--the store I purchased from actually went down to the place where they make the furniture, picked it up and delivered to my place. That is basically unheard of, but that was one of the advantages a) purchasing an American, locally produced product and b) purchasing through a 'mom and pop' store. Oh yeah, and because we didn't have ANYTHING to sleep on, the store dropped off a box spring and our mattress until our furniture arrived. We bought Kincaid furniture, which is a part of the Lay Z Boy company. A good portion of their furniture is still made stateside, as well as Armfield, Henredon, and recently Bob Timberlake (no relation to Justin) shifted operations from overseas BACK to Hickory, NC. If you need any more ideas, let me know, I'm happy to help!
