NWR: BUMRUSHED......

So I was walking my dog last night, keep in mind she is a 110lb bullmastiff..

So I was walking gretchen last night, towards the post office where I normally do. There is a trucking yard behind the post office and what comes out of the trucking yard is a black dog running full throttle at gretchen and I... I start to get a bit nervous. Gretchen sees the dog and backs up on me to protect me. I get startled and didnt want to start running cuz I thought the dog might turn more agressive if in fact it was... So gretchen has her ears pinned down to her head. The black dog (who was gorgeous) comes to a halt and looks at me then starts to sniff gretchens butt. Then gretchen starts to get nervous and backs up even more.. the other dog now goes near her face.. (In my mind I think the dog is gonna bite her or vice versa) I slowly start to pull gretchen away and she wont go she starts to get really angry and i finally get her to back up away from the dog. This other dog is STILL following us. I still dont know whats going to happen. Im glad i had my cell phone, so i called jay and tell to come out because if the dog goes me or gretch he could do something. Finally the dog runs away..... I can tell you that was one of the scariest moments I have been faced with in a long time......

Yowzer! I can say that it’s a good thing you didn’t run—I’ve heard that one’s of the worst things you can do in a situation like that. Glad everyone ended up being okay, but really, some people need to be more responsible with their dogs!

Glad that you were able to keep calm with a strange dog. I would have called 911 to get animal control in charge of the loose dog.

Yeah, I hate it when dogs are loose to wonder the neighborhood. My neighbor has this Beagle mix that they leave outside who occasionally gets free…he actually mostly comes over to my house and cries at the door for my dog to come out, but I’ve seen him just wandering the streets sometimes.

I’ve stupidly decided to try to get him back home and managed once with the help of my dog (he’s a Corgi so he actually loved to be herding the other dog) but the other time, I thought the dog was friendly enough with me so I tried to get hold of his collar and he snapped at me. Imagine if a kid or someone else had tried that? The dog luckily didn’t get me but when I went to my neighbors to tell them that the dog was running loose they didn’t care at all!

I understand you being scared!!! Sounds like the dog was just a big puppy who wanted to play!!

calm is the way to go.. with the cops in suffolk id be dead before they got there hahaha

Awww that was so nice of you BUT wow i couldnt imagine if that dog snapped at a kid...

I cant stand people that treat their animals with such neglect!!!!

I was more scared that they were gonna go at it.....

I told my FH to go and find the dog when hes out walking her tonight.. I want to take the dog home...

oh my god!!! i totally know how you feel! a couple of weeks ago i was walking my dog (shes like 80 pounds.. not too big) on the beach.. and all of the sudden these two stray dogs run up to us.. they were big about the same size as lexi (my dog).. anyways i start freaking out because lexi usually gets nasty.. but she didn't... so instead of running.. which oh my god i wanted to do.. i walked back to my car.. WHICH FELT LIKE FOREVER.. as these dogs kept following us.. i threw lexi in the back seat and these two dogs tried to jump in too! oh my gosh.. it was horrible because then they started to bark when i shut the door.. lol yeah.. i know how it feels to be walking alone and have stray dogs run up to you.. the whole time i was like oh my god im gonna have to go on judge judy theres gonna be a dog fight.. scary!

WOW thats scary!!!! i was only a few hundred yards from my apt but the beach dang that is scary!!!!!

ahah thats what i thought too about the whole ordeal!!!
