Original post by Jen2999

This is a GREAT weekend for me gals

My FH is FINALLY after 6 LONNGGGGGG years.... DONE with the MARINES

WHOO HOOO no more deployments for me!!!!

We will still be having a military ceremony on the wedding because he will be inactive reserves.... and then he will change to a tux for the pictures and the reception. YAY YAY YAY

I cant tell you the stress this has put me through over the last 6 years and I am just THRILLED and soooo proud of him. Part of me will kind of miss the birthday ball and seeing him in his uniform.. but it is worth the sacrafice to have him safe and home.

Thanks for listening.

that is great news! You must be so proud of your FH! Of course it is going to take him some time to get out of military mode but at least there will be no more separations & long goodbyes

Hi Jen

you said your fh was in Kuwait at the start of the war. for my brothers first tour, he was running the convoy line from Kuwait to Bahgdad- what platoon was your fh in? my brother was in the 2/2 out of Camp Lejeune, then he was transferred to another division for his second tour.

they may have served together- which would be nice.

just DO NOT let your fh go back in!!!! keep him AWAY from the recruiting office!

eta: especially in light of the terrible news from yesterday-14 of our boys...one an NYPD officer... breaks my heart. I don't know what I would do. God Bless our troops!!!!!

FH despises being in the military.. Of course he loves serving our country but since he has been reserves, he has a regular life, and to get pulled out of it is just a bother to him. He would never in a million years go back. They even offered to pay him fll time if he signed for another 6 months as a reservist, but he declined.

He is with the 6th communication battalion out of floyd bennet field in Brooklyn. I am not too sure that he ever went directly into iraq...he was mostly on the Kuwaiti side but I will ask him.

That is so wonderful!!!!! My Mom was in the Navy Reserve my whole life and just retired in Dec. I felt like I could finally breathe... During Desert Storm she was recalled for nearly a year and I lived with my grandparents. I was so happy when she told me that she was retiring!!!
I hope that you and your FH have a long, happy and PEACEFUL life together!!!!
PS Tell him THANK YOU!!!!
