I think its super important for women to be empowered. I learned some o' this stuff early to make sure I dont get taken advantage of. I think we al learned today how SO important it is to be able to change your own tires!!! (mikes bride I'm so sorry you had to go through that today, it s ucks!!!)
Points to think about:
Can you change a tire?
Check your oil?
Change wiper blades?
Use tools around the house?
Use power tools?
Whiste dixie?

Re: NWR- but spinoff of flat tire
honestly, all i know how to do is use tools. not knowing how to do the other stuff you mentioned does not really phase me though. then again, i have never been in a situation where those things were an issue.

I am great at home improvements, but know nothing about cars! I always tell FH that is his job.

Re: NWR- but spinoff of flat tire
I can do all of that and more. And I've never owned a car.
I'm just interested in how things work. And I worked building sets and running sound cables and lighting in various productions, so I know my way around tools and electrical issues and such. I've lived alone for a long time...have a toolbox that rivals most people I know.
I don't like the whole 'women should be empowered' kinda thing. Empowered because we know how to do these things? I just call it 'taking care of myself'.
Maybe that sounded b!tchy. It wasn't meant to be. Oh well.

Can you change a tire?
I think if I had to, I could. I also always had triple a, or a service with my insurance that I could call them ANYTIME and they would be there right away.
Check your oil? Again, if I really wanted to learn, I think I could...but I just always go when I'm supposed to.
Change wiper blades? NOPE!
Use tools around the house? Yes, basic stuff. I put together Dino's desk and that took HOURS! I did good!
Use power tools? I think so hahah
Whiste dixie? Nope. what is this? hahah

Re: NWR- but spinoff of flat tire
I can do everything except change a tire, DH tired showing me once, but i don't think i'm strong enough, lol.
This might sound a little 1950's, but DH and I have certain 'man' and 'woman' jobs as we like to call them. Like I don't take out the garbage or mow the lawn, those fall under his category. But I do all the cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. One time he asked me to clean up the dog poop and I laughed and said 'o no thats one of the man jobs'
